Handheld Underground dumps thread
« on: September 24, 2012, 08:04:16 PM »
okay, this is now a thread for any and all new dumps I post on Handheld Underground!

just to keep everything together, here are the dumps I posted in other threads:
http://s4.zetaboards.com/PGC_Forums?topic=9660275/1/#new Pokemon "Ruby" (lets just call it that for now)
http://s4.zetaboards.com/PGC_Forums?topic=9683447/1/#new Lasama

Here's Digimon 9 - have fun! http://hhug.me/?post=9
and just in case anyone was wondering how they got to 9:

Digimon 1: probably never existed (what self-respecting pirate starts at 1?)
Digimon 2: Yong Yong
Digimon 3: Vast Fame
Digimon 4: Yong Yong
Digimon 5: Yong Yong
Digimon 6: http://www.angelfire.com/games/digitalwrld/digigb.html
Digimon 7: Sintax (Digital Drachen 7)
Digimon 8: ???, but no doubt exists
Digimon 9: this one!

and this is excluding everything that just has a subtitle or version name, like Pocket, Ruby, Sapphire, Yellow Jade, Amethyst, "Digimom Sapphii", "2003 Digimon Fighted" etc etc, or anything with a D-something number (Digimon D3 etc). there are a lot of Digimon pirates is what I'm saying.

Clearly the same engine as Digimon Yellow Jade. Gotta love Sintax.

Edit: And now I'm wondering which is the original and which is the hack... because this isn't just a title hack; the graphics and levels are entirely different.

Edit #2: And it's totally a Li Cheng hack. "Niutoude" logo!

May I ask where you bought this from? I love Pokemon and digimon platformers.

Hey, this actually looks pretty-AUGH GAWD NO. NOT THAT MUSIC AGAIN. Dx

But seriously though, this isn't half bad. A bit stiff and it's annoying that most enemies take more then one hit. But all in it, it'd be fine if it wasn't for THAT MUSIC.  >_<

i know! D: i wonder why Sintax loved it so much - they've used plenty of superior stolen soundtracks across their various games but they always seemed to come back to Lemmings in the end.

Clearly the same engine as Digimon Yellow Jade. Gotta love Sintax.[/quote]Which is based off of another engine, because I just got a Sintax game that has a very similar HUD.  Not saying much, but hey.

Donkey Kong 5 has a damn fine soundtrack in my opinion. Sintax! Why u no reuse good music? Why must you throw the same two Lemmings tunes at me over and over again? They're repetitive as all hell too. D=

They probably didn't have a musician in-house - if they'd tried to make their own, something terrible might have happened.

(Also they were still using Lemmings on some of their last GBC games...)

I knew I recognized the screenshots from somewhere... Sky League is selling the rom on taobao. Lucky we get the rom for free  :P  (thanks taizou!) http://a.m.taobao.com/i17639240725.htm?sid=b4278fa260bdd34d&pds=fromauc%23h%23shop
On a similar note. Has this from appeared on any digimon cartridges that anyone knows of? http://a.m.taobao.com/i14837565481.htm?sid=b4278fa260bdd34d&pds=fromauc%23h%23shop

Never seen it on a cart, but it looks similar to this one.. just with different characters/cutscenes/levels. typical Sintax I suppose.

I actually like the concept of the second level; probably haven't seen a platformer pull off something like that in some time.

To be fair I do like the Lemmings GBC soundtrack, but yea, Sintax overuses it; like with the Pokemon Pinball music in all those SMBDX clones.

I'm going to co-opt this into an all-purpose thread for all my new dumps, because all being well I should have a few more of these things to release over the coming weeks - here's a new one, Digimon 3 Crystal:

http://hhug.me/?post=10

on the one hand it's only a variation of a dumped game, but on the other.. new Vast Fame music! yay!

With nearly everything being spinach green. =\

Bizarre.
