Most amusing pirate cover/labels you've seen?
« on: July 22, 2011, 12:55:56 AM »
Just to bring back some life, and maybe to encourage submissions(or heck, post them and I'll put them up myself if they're not on the wiki already), this thread is to show off the stupidest or weirdest pirate labels you come across for games.

I'll get the ball rolling with my newest submission after a long absence.

I like this one just for the name. No idea what game it actually is.

Isn't it Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle?
Indeed it is! The "Tiny Toon" title hack of it, specifically. Tracked it down in this thread.

Funny how when they convert these games to MMC3 (as proven by the 4-in-1 multicart this hack's included on), a lot of the time they rebrand it as a different game. :P

That Beavis and Butthead one is hilarious! I haven't seen a pirate of either version of that game before.. and what the hell, Buffoonery Panze? LMAO.

I can't find the picture, but I distinctly remember a cartridge with the Contra box art, but it said Kart Fighter.. Weird pirates.

 I have no idea what's on this cart. They clearly know nothing about marketing a product =p

I have came across the two finest pieces of artwork for the Mega Drive.

I am fully prepared to pay outlandish overseas shipping to play both "Time Warner Interactive" and....

"The Sensible Initiation".

I will own "The Sensible Initiation" if it's the last damn thing I do.

Is it just me or does "Time Warner" sound like a bad ripoff of Dr. Who? :P

Anyway, here's a 4-in-1 multicart. No idea what they were thinking with that "Srangrai" pic (Shanghai, of course), and the others (with the possible exeption of "Chi Dey Story") are unrelated to the actual game.

You mean the ones from the GM-95 series?

Edit: Found it. :D
LOL, it's literally ripped from that cartridge! They even left the text above and to the right of the woman intact.

Edit: OK, not specifically that cartridge-- the positioning of the text is a bit higher on the Famicom cart, and the woman's not as closely cropped-- but it's probably from the (missing) box art to that cart.

(Especially KaSheng) Hell, I have a 7-in-1 by JY where the image used for Super Contra 6 is from Contra: The Alien Wars and says "Instruction Booklet" on it and Bucky O'Hare uses a Star Wars poster for no apparent reason.
Edit: Here's an image of that, BTW.

And apparently, I suck at HTML.
Edit 2: Just had to show this one off because of how ridiculous it is:
