Ah I had that suspicion too - it seems to align with their old ES/ESC logo, as well as the ESC copyright on Super Contra 7. I haven't been able to find any staff on other games that match up with LQ and ZYJ though

(although i'm curious what the ES initials actually stand for.. my theory was that it's based on a literal translation of the "wai" and "xing" characters separately, which could be interpreted as "External Star" .. or maybe it's derived from "extraterrestrial" somehow)

Not a stolen song, but a HIDDEN GAME ALERT!
Select the middle-down game (don't press Start) and press up. Here you go!
It's Wario's Woods game with pills and hearts as viruses.[/quote]there are also graphics for a "9" next to the used "8 in 1", so I guess there was probably a ninth option planned and they didn't properly remove access to it.

Weird. I do wonder if carts of the 8 in 1 and 9 in 1 versions exist somewhere. :o

Edit: I also love the 9 in 1's title screen, with assets clearly taken from Super Mario Bros, Mickey Mousecapade and Adventure Island along with that badly stretched Dr. Mario sprite. :pandahappy:

Oh, hey, on the "Doctor Mary 9 in 1" title screen, that's the same sign from the Mickey Mousecapade level titles that Waixing also used in their Wizard of Oz game.

Edit: And yet again, I see Awesome Panda already mentioned it after I posted that. But yeah, more evidence of a Waixing connection!

Don't forget the Russian and American folk songs that they used in Subor famiclones.

We have 4 connections with Waixing:
1. "PRODUCED BY ES", Fu Zan, Mu Kai
2. Subor songs rearranged
3. Mickey Mousecapade sign.
4. Game Select music is Waixing-y.
Btw. The "Doctor Mary 9 in 1" doesn't contain any of the Fangquan Zongyoudan/Magic Sprite hacks, only Doctor Mary II with different pill and virus sprites - the backgrounds are the same, music also. I discovered some things:
1. There is an octopus sprite as a choice for virus sprites (9in1 "Pearl"). Underwater game maybe? I will send a mockup here soon.
2. Game loads the virus sprites into PPU on the Doctor Mary II/Fangquan Zongyoudan select menu.
Also I'm sure they ripped the planets in Fangquan... (Magic Sprite)'s title screen from Gemini Man's stage in Megaman 3 or Starman's in Megaman 5 and the bow on this screen is actually sunlight that was obstructed by the Earth in the original game.
The game contains 10 Dr. Mario ROMs in it, one for each "game". What about dumping the separate games? It shouldn't be hard to link the original game settings menu with the pirate hacks, and we could make the IPS patches for original Dr. Mario.
And I thought I wouldn't torture myself with a Waixing game for more than 15 minutes...
It's pretty playable and the music is bearable.

and you can't patch the original rom with it, since they added a lot its own code, so they need more than one 32K bank

Would it be hard to rip it? As in NSF ripping.
If I'm not mistaken, all the games share the same code, including music code, which is probably ripped from Dr. Mario for all the games, because the Fever is still there. They rearranged their music to fit the Dr. Mario sound engine's limits. After all, they ripped many sound engines in their life, including the Konami one.
Edit: Yeah, the music is definitely rearranged because the noise channel has similar percussion.
