Rockman/Megaman Undumped Pirates
« on: June 24, 2011, 08:36:00 PM »
Apparently there are a lot more Mega Man pirates than I thought, some even apparently without a name.
Some of them are probably just alt. names for other Mega Man pirates. (e.g. Rockman X3 (GBC))

I'm pretty sure that video you sent is not actually a game and rather a Mega Drive remake of one of the songs from Megaman VII. Probably best off asking codeman38 or whoever Jesse Brown is if you ask me.

That Megaman 7 song is too high quality. Obviously a fan effort. Pirates never put that sorta effort into their music =p

Out of all those pirates on Mechanical Maniacs, all of them are just pirates of official games mostly, or well known and dumped pirates. Nothing undumped there besides Rockman & Crystal.

Ah right, forgot.

That final link with the guy thinking that Taobao auction for a card was for a cartridge apparently isn't aware that Zook Hero 3 exists and is on GBC.
As far as undumped Megaman pirates go, i think this is the list:

Zook Hero
Zook Hero 2(I think, right? Unless you want to count Rockman DX3, though that isn't from an original cart)
Zook Hero 3
Rockman & Crystal

Then there's stuff like Rockman X4 which is just a title hack of Rockman 8.

The GBC Zook Hero 3 is a Sintax game though, and it has a different (but similar) name in Chinese, 洛克英雄传3 (Rock Hero Legend 3, or something), so its kind of an unofficial sequel - the GBA Rockman & Crystal is the "real" Vast Fame-developed sequel as far as anyone knows.

incidentally Sintax also has copyrights registered on "洛克人 X5/Rockman X5" & "络克英雄EXE5/Pockman exe5", so there might be two more out there.. but knowing Sintax they'll just be two of their older games with rockman sprites hacked in.

Yeah, the Mega Drive one is totally an obvious hoax. The video description even has "(j/k)" in it...and besides that, the guy who posted it has a bunch of other Mega Drive covers that he did himself.

just noticed the Chinese title for "Pockman exe5" is actually "Zook Hero EXE5". not even Rock Hero like their other one. hmm!

just noticed the Chinese title for "Pockman exe5" is actually "Zook Hero EXE5". not even Rock Hero like their other one. hmm![/quote]Heh, this stuff is confusing.

For those who never noticed this, the spelling used in VFame's Zook games is not the same spelling used in Capcom's official Chinese releases. It's incredibly similar, and even pronounced the same (luò kè), but the "luò" is different:

Rockman: 洛克
Zook: 絡克 (see edit below)

No doubt VFame wanted to retain plausible deniability on the games released under their own label. Or something like that, anyway, heh.

Further confusing things, the Rockman DX3 version of Zook Hero 2, which appears to have been done by someone related to VFame (I mean, look at the PC Paint fonts on the new title!) but was never released with their branding on it, does use Capcom's spelling.

Edit: And this is the peril of trying to identify Chinese characters by sight. Although 絡克 is indeed the name used by Sintax, Zook's name in VFame's games is actually 路克, which can either be luò ke or lú kè. Which explains the whole "road gram hero" thing on the Rockman Crystal box.

oh yeah, i found this recently:
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=10109588858
i think that might be the original X3 version, it has VFame's art and everything.
