Gowin English Game Distributor
« on: January 03, 2019, 03:18:55 PM »
Not too long ago I saw an article on a website called Worthplaying.com. They described a company called Crystal Interactive that once
sold English Gowin games. They left a link for the site, but the last time they were active appears to be early 2002.

Here's a link to the Worthplaying post

And here's one to an archived version of Crystal Interactive's site

I also found what looks like a news article that shows a picture of an English version of Crouching Tiger by Gowin and credits it towards Crystal Interactive. To my knowledge an English copy of that game has yet to be found.

I noticed that most of the Gowin games known to be released in English are either in color, or appear to have had color added to them.

Based on Gowin's site the list of English games was GS16, GS15, GS13, GS12, GS11, GS10, GS09, GS05, and possibly Crouching Tiger (which I think is GS17) but I don't know if that one ever got released. This list seems to match up with Crystal Interactive's site.

Not too long ago though, I found an archived listing for an English copy of GS02 (Magic Ball) on a Polish shopping website. The copyright dates on the box suggest that the game was sold in the mid to early 90s. That too my knowledge is before the first color Gowin game was made. This means that in addition to the known set of English Gowin games that were sold by Crystal Interactive there was an older set of what were probably most of Gowin's mono games.

Rehosted the auction photo, I've never seen this box before.

Ok, I guess that confirms that GS-17E is real. Not sure if the guy who took the picture is on the forums, but if you are, big ups to you for finding this

Edit: The picture appears have to gone down on that site. Luckily, I saved it earlier, so here it is
