well! i got 23 Chinese Game Boy games today. Mostly RPGs, but only one of them is a lazy hack of a licensed game, and none of them are by Yong Yong. Not bad going, I think. o: Details to follow soonish.
i'll post pics and info about all of them when I have more time, but some of the more interesting things are one of those Flying Daggers games in a weird "Super Game" cart that actually credits Tian Cai Xiao Zi, a port of Beggar Prince published by Sintax but evidently developed by the same people, another RPG developed by them with Sintax packaging but a Xing Xing cart (with a Niutoude boot logo but a big-ass Sintax logo in-game), a Sintax fighting game with only one ill-fitting music track and no sound effects, Waixing releases of Shi Kong Xing Shou & Shui Hu Shen Shou, and... more!
Oh yeah, and I got another copy of Lion King III and this one doesn't work either. >:0

Waixing released Shi Kong/Shui Hu?  Is the Shi Kong one related to the FF9 bootleg or is it a different animal (assuming they're GBC games)?

Doesn't seem to be related to the FF9 version - they're basically just the original versions with the intros removed and different title screens. They both also seem to have another option on the title screen but I'm not sure what it does.

I have no idea if these releases were legit but Shi Kong's manual is full of original artwork, so I assume so... Which makes me wonder if they actually had permission from V.Fame to port Digimon 3 & Shui Hu to the Famicom too. Although this release has a different name but their Fami version keeps the original, so I'm not sure.

Hm. Now I wonder if Tian Cai Xiao Zi is some sort of division of/contract developer for Sintax.

I mean, it would sort of make sense if that's the case. Sintax and VFame were both connected to Gamtec, so there would potentially be some sharing of resources (i.e., the RPG engine). And the Flying Daggers games use music stolen from a licensed game, much like...Sintax's entire oeuvre, basically.

I got that 72 in 1 thing I ordered earlier today. Basically, it contains 48 games, most of which are either hacks or Nice Code originals. What's kind of odd though is that The Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle is included (renamed to Tiny Toon 3 or something like that) and a lot of the names on the menu are wrong, with many of them being what the hack is based off. (e.g. Sky Invader being called Sky Destroyer on the menu)

Edit: Apparently, it's made by a company called Yika Creative Ltd.

well as i mentioned ages ago, here's some more info on the GB games I got, starting with the four random ones:
Spoiler: click to toggle

left to right, top to bottom:

* Harry Potter 3 - The shooter with Parodius music. Exactly the same as the dumped verison - the cart says it's an RPG but it lies.

* One of those House of Flying Daggers games, based on a hacked up Vast Fame engine with Telefang music. This one actually displays the Xiao Zi Tian Cai logo which is hidden in the dumped versions, so probably an original release?

* Red Alert 2 - Chinese translation of Cannon Fodder. The game's actual intro is hacked out (probably for space reasons, the original rom is 4mb) but they left in the intro from the release group who originally dumped it, and hacked their new title screen into that. But left the scrolling message untouched, naturally.

* Digimon D-3, for the Gamf Boy Advancef, rated F for Fucking Fantastic. Well its really just the same Digimon D-3 game I got earlier, only with an English title screen. I'm sure I've seen another game in this style of cart, though, which is now making me wonder if it was something interesting..
+ six loose Sintax games:
Spoiler: click to toggle

* Lion King 3 - Doesn't work, same as my other copy ):

* Shaoling Legend - same as this but in Chinese and it has a BBD copyright on the title screen.. (It even still has a redundant save battery on the PCB)

* King of Fighters, or something - Really weird fighting game.  The pause screen says KOF 2003 on it, so let's go with that. It doesn't seem to use the same engine as any other GB fighter, and while some parts seem to have had some effort put into them (some of the graphics are quite nice, albeit stolen from NGPC games I think, and they even went to the trouble of giving it a save feature and unlockable characters) it has no sound effects and just one incredibly ill-fitting music track playing throughout the entire game, and it's quite glitchy.

* Beggar Prince - yep, C&E's Beggar Prince, ported to the Game Boy.. by the same people who did those Flying Daggers games (although it was published by Sintax) which means Telefang music and a Vast Fame engine. and a lot of the NPC sprites seem to be from Pokemon and Zelda.

* Metal Max - I think that's what it is, anyway. seems like the dumped game.

* Langrisser II - or Langrsr II as the English version is known. a strategy RPG based very much on the same engine as that Fire Emblem game published by SKOB.

While browsing around Qi Sheng Long's site, I discovered that they have a list of all 101 of Nanjing's 16-bit games from one of their consoles. Some of these I hadn't seen before.

http://www.qishenglong.com/doce/download/default.html - then click on the download link for "16 bits 101 in 1 game list & game photos".

One could almost play a game of 'spot the stolen assets' just from the provided screenshots. #82, "Triggerman 3", is especially blatant.

[Edited to fix download link. Direct hyperlinks don't work.]

2. Mr. Driller
4. Nice Code's Boxworld game (Judging by the layout and the graphics, it seems to be directly based off that version)
7. Puzzle Bobble
8. Road Fighter
9. Back to the Future Part III (Mega Drive game)
11. Arkanoid
15. Galaxian
16. T&C Surf Design
17. That Rascal game on the Neo-Geo
19. Arkanoid again
21. Bomberman
29. Snake
30. Nice Code's Teleport game (Why they'd want to rip that off in the first place, I have no idea)
33. Puzzle Bobble again (Sort of)
34. Pop'n TwinBee
35. Pang
37. Tapper
38. Fire (Game & Watch Gallery version)
41. Battle City
42. Dangerous Zone (JungleTac game)
45. Depth Charge
48. T&C Surf Design again
49. Space Invaders
50. Xmas Gift or whatever it's called
56. Tetris
57. Minigame from Hirake! Ponkiki
58. Reversi
59. After Burner (Well, probably more like Sky Destroyer but whatever)
60. Super Sprint
75. That PC game again
78. Arkanoid again
84. The Amazing Spider-Man (Game Boy)
88. Columns
91. T&C Surf Design again
94. Xiao Ma Li
96. Arkanoid again
99. Galaxian again

I like how they ran out of game ideas so they reused the same ones several times. :P

Another random YouTube find!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqtTEr7Pg40 - This is an Overmax 90-in-1 console featuring a whole pile of games that I'd never seen before. I'm pretty sure that these were developed by V-Tac; the bowling game exactly matches the one on V-Tac's site. But there are two particularly curious things here. First, the music in a lot of the games sounds like something out of SencaTech's "Family Sport" series (complete with the horrendously off-key MIDI patches). And second... the boxing game uses Robert Miles' "Fable", just like Cube Tech's ping-pong. Seriously, what.

Edited to add: One of the games on this thing is credited to SencaTech, so that similarity wasn't just my imagination. Namely, the sudoku game at 6:00 in.

Several of the games are taken directly from V-Tac's X-Racer II (apparently, they're taken from a Radica plug 'n play thing) and the ones with the off-key music sound very similar to the games off Conny's Pocket Dream Console.

I've also noticed that several of the games from that 90-in-1 are also on the MGT 20-in-1 sold by Pearl TV in Germany... which we've already pretty much confirmed to be a V-Tac production.

But then there are other games that are the same as on the Family Sport 41-in-1, which is completely a SencaTech production. So yeah.
