got me a one of these today:
Spoiler: click to toggle

it's a ping pong game by Timetop. well it doesnt say Timetop anywhere on it, but the screenshots on the box say Daidaixing which is their Chinese name. and the PCB has the name Gao Ming on it who is their CEO. so read into that what you will (like that it's made by Timetop)
also those kids really do not look like they're enjoying the ping pong action one bit.

anyway i currently have no means to test it because i just moved and i'm temporarily holed up in a tiny room with no TV for about two weeks, so i dunno what the game is like or what the hardware actually is. VT03 maybe? the pingpong game is on a 60-pin cart so it might be a famiclone but it also might not be, lots of chinese game consoles use 60-pin carts even if they're not even remotely famiclone based. it'd be kinda cool if it actually *was* a famiclone because the wireless receiver connects to a famicom expansion-style port, which means you should be able to use the controllers on a real famicom (although i dunno how many, if any, games would be playable). anyway i'll test it out whenever i get the chance.

Earlier today, I got myself a 245-in-1, or 23-in-1 + 222-in-1 as the box presents itself as. Or maybe it's 1389-Capcom (insert Chinese text here) or something.

Spoiler: click to toggle

Despite saying that that it's two multicarts in one, they use the same menu which happens to be the one from the 150-in-1. I started up a few of the games to make sure it works and that's it. I need to get out my Argo Famiclone because the Ultimate TV Game crashes every 5 seconds and it doesn't work properly on a Famicom. -_-

brief update on the timetop pingpong game - i now have a tv again and from the looks of things its a standard famiclone (although the title screen music is a PCM sample so it might have something else going on). im currently attempting to get batteries into one of the controllers. not sure how to take the cover off, and i'm kinda worried that if i apply too much force in the wrong direction i'll break it. more later!

(also it seems weird to me that timetop released about 5 different variations of this console, each with an identical console and its own game cart and controller - wouldnt it have made more sense to sell the console alone or with one game/controller bundled, then sell extra cart+controller packs separately?)
okay i figured out you just have to lift it up to the point where it feels like its going to snap. biut it won't snap, it'll open. so, the game!

its definitely a famiclone judging from the graphics. i dunno if it'll run standard carts, or if its carts will run in a standard clone - i don't have any fami stuff with me at the moment. but i'll test it when i can.

the game itself is nothing to write home about, i'm not sure if it does any proper motion detection or maps everything to the A button but probably the latter. still, i have to give them credit for innovation - its a motion controlled game console made in 2001, a *long* time before the Wii. So really Nintendo ripped off Timetop. >:0

well i tried a fami cart on this thing, it *is* a famiclone. but it has a 15 pin and a 9 pin port on the front, the 15 pin is where the wireless receiver goes, i tried plugging a standard controller into the 9-pin but no luck. so i guess the 9-pin is for the second player? that'd also mean i have to track down a 15-pin famiclone controller like the old Micro Geniuses (and by extension Dendys) used to use.

Then again, I'm guessing it probably doesn't work with some controllers.

Also, I think the Famicom light gun (and Famiclone equivalents) are 15-pin so you could probably play light gun games on it as well.

Apparently Timetop is still selling that ping pong game through their wholesale channels-- or at least were as of this past April, anyway:

Edit: Also, not related to video games at all, but according to their "about" page on that site, Timetop has official license from the BBC to manufacture Teletubbies toys. Who'd have thought?

And I can't do that, yet.

A lightgun might work (and if it does, that'd mean the 15-pin port is a standard famicom expansion port, and you'd be able to use the ping pong controllers on a real Famicom..) but I don't have one with me. or any lightgun games for that matter. Could probably pick some stuff up next weekend though.

Earlier today I managed to find a 50-in-1 plug 'n play controller containing a bunch of hacks of various Famicom/NES games. (As far as I can tell, it's basically this converted to PAL format and with a slightly different controller design) Just to point out, Inclement Trip is actually Super Spy Hunter and I think Magic Block is a hack of Tengen Tetris. I might be wrong on the latter though. As far as I can tell, there's 43 games with 7 of them being repeats of Track & Field.

Basically, it looks the same as the clone I linked except it's opaque with a blue and yellow motif. The sticker is also different, saying "50 Games: Plug and Play" instead. Also, the LED below it can be somewhat annoying when you're playing the games. <_<

Also, mine didn't come with any packaging, although that's probably because I bought it second-hand. (Fortunately, the previous owner left the batteries in :P )
