Sonic had several hacks nes
(Hummer, Somari, Doraemon etc.)
How about we do the same thing?
example make a hack of the hummer
the spiky runner

and an imitation of sonic having a spike in the head
and that such a good idea?  ;D

The thing is that there's few editors out there for pirate games (except for the very few mentioned here) so to do more with them you'd have to know how to hack these games yourself, which few people are both able to do and care to do.  I've occasionally do some graphic dabbling in Tile Layer Pro, but that's about the extent of it since I don't have actual technical knowledge.

  • Cutting yourself is fun, as long as you're paper.

Technically, there were no pirate game editors mentioned in 'ere at all! Only an editor for the MegaDrive Earthworm Jim and a bunch of development tools/tutorials.

Oh, pfft.  My bad!  But the point still stands that you'd have to have hacking knowledge to do stuff like this.

Well his idea sounds more like a graphics hack to me, so I dunno if he wanted to edit any levels.

As much as I can recall, the only fine examples of ones that don't suck are... Well, Macbee's SMW and Super Mario 4 (which is a slightly reskinned Super Mario Bros, though).

The sprite work in certain hacks like Pocket Monsters Go Go weren't too bad.  I do agree that hacks like that (sometimes in general) rarely tend to be good, usually due to a lack of effort and/or skills.

Yeah Monster Go Go Go is really well done IMO, aside from the slowdown. Most other pirate graphical hacks were just shitty rushjobs, but for that one they went to the trouble of drawing entirely new (and good!) graphics and a totally adorable Pikachu sprite and everything.
