Vast Fame's cheat cartridge
« on: September 27, 2010, 11:34:21 PM »
theres something in GoodGBX called "Fire Bird GB Cheat Code Card (Unl) [c]", the internal ROM of a cheat cartridge - obviously not much use on its own. but its by Vast Fame! the header says "Vast Fame 1.0", which also shows up on the code list screen (it'd normally show the header name from the inserted game, but when its emulated it acts like it's inserted into itself). and the icon to start a game is a cartridge with "VF" on it. the included codes are mostly for licensed games but theres a few for some of V.Fame's own games too. And Sonic 6.

but has anyone ever seen one of these? i'm kind of interested to know what it looks like now.

Ooh! I found the ROM of that some time ago and thought it was an interesting curiosity. I'd like to see the real thing too, but I haven't ever seen one in the wild either...

I'm also curious about the "GB Sacker Gold Finger", developed by a company named "Sun-Star". In particular, it uses the same font as the Telefang hacks.

Edit: Incidentally, it is now obvious that "Shawu Story" is actually supposed to be the Shui Hu animal RPG (a.k.a. Mythos), not the Three Kingdoms one with the same header.

The GB Gamejack uses that same Telefang-hack font too. i wonder if they're all connected somehow..

i'm sure i have a picture of the GB Sacker's packaging somewhere though. I definitely remember it lets you "capture all the magical babies with ease". or something like that.

Possibly the Pokémon hacks of Telefang, and seeing as Sun-Star used the same font, I wouldn't be surprised if they made those. Same bad Engrish as well. Either that or the people involved were on PCP Siaiion at the time.

http://mistifchris.50webs.com/gbsacker.html

It does indeed mention being able to "seize all magical babies with great ease", specifically in "POKEMON GLDAAUJ" (and yes, Pokemon Gold does indeed have DMG-AAUJ as its product code). Apparently, if I'm understanding this Engrish correctly, this device allows you to copy the battery-backup memory from one cartridge to another, which is actually pretty useful.

Edit: Even better, that's apparently some sort of mutant knockoff version. This Ruten auction shows the Sun-Star original, albeit with no packaging.
