Hurricane Sandy
« on: October 30, 2012, 09:19:00 AM »
So, Hurricane Sandy came by Long Island yesterday. Good news is I'm alive obviously. Bad news is the power went out (I'm on my netbook) although I think it was turned off for safety reasons for me. I won't be on as much until the power goes back on but yeah, it was kind of horrible here. We had a huge tree branch hit where my parent's bedroom is and left a huge crack on the wall. x_x

Yeah, It's hitting pretty hard where I am too. Thank God for the sinkhole a few yards over or else we'd be flooded by now. They even closed all the schools in the area due to the massive lakefront storm. The bad news is there's a massive unfinished demolition site across the street, so if the wind manages to pick up any rubble, I'm done for.

For what little it's worth, due to having truly no idea what you guys are going through over there, I wish you the very best and hope you can pull through this. Good luck and well wishes may not seem like much but it's the best I've got right now. For all those affected by Sandy, you are a buncha tough cookies. Stay tough.

I lost power over here two days ago.  I'm on here using a public computer.  We didn't get it too bad here, but there are still a lot of giant lines at gas stations and uprooted trees.  I hope everybody else along the east cost is safe right now.

Thanks Ray! The power finally came back so everything's good. Link, I'm hoping you do ok and Qiezei, good to hear it wasn't too bad. Over here, there were a couple of houses that were destroyed and there were knee-high floods as well.

It's over. I lived through it. No serious damage here aside from a big willow tree a mile or 2 down the road.

Day 5: Still no power, still no internet.  After a few days I thought I saw a salsbury steak, but it was just my Pocket Dream Console.  After a frustrating game of Four Islands, I felt like eating it anyway.  Also it's cold as tits over here.

Aww, hope it get's better for ya, Qiezei. I'd probably go crazy without power! I suppose your radiators won't work, due to no power, so you'd have to wear something warm as it's cold. :\

I hope you didn't eat the Pocket Dream Console though, you'd have a terrible stomach-ache. :P

Ruten has games that are harder to find than the generic Chinese hacks sometimes which is why I like ruten better as well.

Taobao has stuff, but a lot of the good games (V.Fame, Sintax, Gamtec, etc.) are from Taiwan, and a lot easier to find there.

And a discussion about a major, MAJOR disaster the likes of which I've never even had the capacity to imagine before! ...has devolved into a discussion about where to buy bootlegs.

THINGS ARE OFFICIALLY BACK TO NORMAL. =D

I think this thread should be locked now, since it's now a bootleg-related discussion and the hurricane thing is gone.
