您好 / Hello
« on: June 20, 2012, 04:54:22 PM »
First of all, I'd like to thank a lot Barver and KingPepe. They were very helpful. Also a big thanks to PGC Team who sent us questions, ideas and helped to translate or make connection with other events (Taizou, AwesomePanda and others). Without their help, it could have not worked that good!

The title of this topic is in fact the first part of the message that I sent to Hummer Cheng.
Some people here discussed with him by emails with the help of a middleman/translator and here we are, sharing it to you.

As most of the message sent to us were in chinese, we had to translate it, to release it here, we cut most of the casual discussion and unrelated stuff only keep what was related to Famicom. The questions are asked in bulk because we discussed with him by email and eventually some questions were put with others so maybe the dates are not accurate in the email header. The page will be updated when we get more informations.

First messages:

And indeed, a HUGE thanks to Hummer Cheng for answering all these questions!

Wait, Joyvan and Sachen weren't the same company?  Or were they just seperate development teams under the same roof that ended up becoming one?  I'm kinda tired, so I might be asking something stupid.

Ahem, anyway, this was really interesting to read.  I could only wish I could chat with some of the people at Sachen or Vast Fame, especially the composers and artists.

Gotta admit, no matter what the others say about him, Hummer is actually a great person. He's one of the few pirates (maxzhou88 of Super Game among them) who can make their products actually look nice and play alright.

This makes me feel good, knowing we can stay in touch with all these pirate companies. :)
If you found Yong Yong, I would ask how many games they made! xD

I know I'm late to the party, but this is incredibly amazing MLX! He seems like a nice guy, and I'm a huge fan of his Famicom ports. Willing to share information knowing you could have been a 'spy' from another big corporation? Takes courage on his part.

Amazing stuff!

What things was Hummer Team doing that weren't related to the Famicom after 1998? I though that all of their games were for the Famicom.

Just thought it would be nice to gives the final answer about some stuff that was mentionned; Joy Van disappeared simply because Sachen bought the company. Some of the staff left when it happened.

Recent. He is a busy man so we rarely get the chance to ask him stuff (also trying to not annoy him with hundreads of questions). That Sachen-Joyvan thing was a bit unclear from the first interview so we wanted to know the detail and that is what he said.

Holy s**t.

I wonder if he still has the "rights" (such as they may be?) to the Hummer Team characters? I'd love to license/buy them if possible.
