Krossklash 8-bit Character Creation System
« on: June 13, 2012, 06:33:06 AM »
I remember showing this thing to KingPepe previously and now, after I've made a very slight update, a decision about throwing this to public was made.

So, this thing was inspired by many wrestling games' Create-A-Superstar mode, as well as similar modes in Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Soulcalibur III, Soulcalibur IV, Soulcalibur V, whatever. Only now it's extremely small and in 8-bit, but who cares? It looks cool, it includes a lot of parts, it works!

It's what I'd like to call Krossklash: Locked & Loaded Character Creator Chart v. 1.0.

It was not intended for the "fakebit" style, so it pretty much lives up to the "standards of the real hardware": all head, torso and legs parts have two tiles each, and each character includes three colors: one for skin/eyes/other white places, one for outlines/black places and the last, custom one which is for "painting" hair and/or outfit elements.

Here's a bunch of really, really quick examples of what it's possible to do with this thing. You may need to refer to the link above to read the text, though, because of PGC Forums' black background...

Fairly interesting, but seems a bit complicated.

Fairly interesting, but seems a bit complicated.
Thanks, although I don't understand how adding three random parts (head, torso, legs) on a character may get complicated. The variety of outfits, on the other hand...

Seems interesting...Is it just a "for fun" standalone thing or can it be applied to a game?

Seems interesting...Is it just a "for fun" standalone thing or can it be applied to a game?
Well, as long as someone (and this someone is me  :pandaaway: ) does the animations for this thing, yes, it can be applied to a game. Even better, it can be applied to a game for the 8-bit consoles or handhelds, thanks to the fact outfits are tile-based.
