Steepler Ltd. Discussion Thread

I have abandoned the BootlegGames Wiki articles that are done only by me (because no one else knows what to add in it :P ), so now I think I should get back to expanding it and try to make up a complete picture of what happened to Steepler.

Meanwhile, if you have any questions or suggestions about what was there and how it was, ask them HERE.

Like, codeman asked if there actually was Sonic CD's USA version imported to Russia. Even despite I actually answered this long ago, I'll say that, well, there may be mixed regions. I know kinda very little about SEGA CD invading the muddahrusshah (in fact, there was not that much of what I've found), but the only hint is that in episode one of season one, this thing was called 'SEGA CDX' and reviewed 'Ecco the Dolphin' in its' original packaging. But for now, I'll just say it's region mixing.

Also, subtitles... ACK. Don't feel like doing them now.

Basically, the sources. This spoiler is yet to grow.

Did Russia get a lot of pirates at around about the same time that they were released in Asia? Seeing as they got Somari in 1994, I wouldn't be surprised.

If you mean pirate originals, then I definitely say YES. Not only there were pirate multicarts, but from the info I got from (Video-Uss Dendy magazine), even Dian Shi Mali made it to Russia! (however, there it was called 'Japanese Mario', by a reader).

Later on, of course, somewhere around 1996, Steepler got into trouble with the opponent companies. And, to be honest, nobody won in this war.

Too bad I'll never definitely know if Steepler really had imported Game Genies or if it's what I just did is the retranslation of Joystick's article

What I'm wondering is, if they did sell the Game Genie then did they get permission from Codemasters or whoever distributed it?

No idea. But, if they have real SEGA MegaDrives imported (alongside with bootlegged ones), why not?

Realtec made a 60-pin Game Genie, I guess they probably sold that.. weird that the picture shows a 72 pin version though.

because Realtec was lazy I suppose. so it could even have come from there.
