I don't know really, the only memory I have is looking at NES World's pirate section and seeing screenshots that looked like they came from his TV. I definitely remember it being a website, not a magazine.

Sometimes I wonder if I never saw screenshots at all and I just saw that common Kick Master pirate that has The Mask artwork on the label. Has anyone else ever told you they've seen it?
me too have only memory I've seen it somewhere, wether on NW or some Russian magazine ;) At least one of them have "The Mask" title under the 8-bit area with cheats and secrets, sent by joung readers ;) And it says about the mask game presumably being on the famicom/dendy

8 bit, "Believe it or Check it"
The Mask
"If you take the book, in the 11th level you can get in the door. You'll find there the hammer."
three major notes:
1. This "info" was submitted by one of kids reading this magazine, no one know who is this, where is this now and if this "info" was actually true.
2. There is no 11th level in SNES version of the game, the SNES version have only 7 levels.
3. Doubt the NES conversion have 11 levels too ;)

:D Thanks! I'm guessing that they did a typo there with 11 levels.

"If you get the book, then you can go through the door in level 11. There, you can find the hammer."

I personally advice you guys to not treat this hint as a reliable source on how The Mask looks like, since the "Хочешь - верь, не хочешь - проверь" section is flooded with gossip cheats which have never been tested by The Great D editorial in the first place. That is, unless the levels are actually divided to sections here, which explains why there are "more than eleven stages" in the game.

EDIT: ...the Mortal Kombat V Pro invincibility cheat seems to be legit, though.

EDIT 2: ...what I totally can't say about the hint for Tom & Jerry (and Tuffy) placed among the regular and tested cheats! Just look at this: "There is no escape from the secret room in level 3, so, without hesitating, die on the ant and you'll be respawned back to the regular stage".

And now, the reality. The levels are divided as X-1, X-2 and X-3, so it's completely unclear which bonus stage the kid have meant exactly - that's one. None of the bonus levels have actually deadly hazards, sans 1-1 and 1-2, not to mention none of these have ants - that's two. And the last fact: all the bonus stages are escapeable.

Geez, what kind of a wussy ass tips 'n cheats section is that?
the rest of cheats in that section is legit.
*Mortal Kombat actually have options menu with invincibility on/off , so this is exactly "select, start" in the options menu ;)
*Chase H.Q. have the stage select cheat with such a button code, so true
*Topgun and panic restaurant are hints that exactly right ;)

I'm guessing such sound quality from this April Fool's ROM is a feature of the emulator? That's the thing that interests me the most.

Oh, it's just PCM. The NES is wonderful like that. :D And it's supposed to be the whole chorus, like the original here: http://youtu.be/KEHmsDHX3b0 I have the ROM somewhere. :P

I recall there's also a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles music demo that also features PCM samples, albeit the converted title song here is a bit longer.

Conclusion: The Mask remains undumped. So I changed the year on my post to 2012. Who can add that game to the undumped list?
