Cheetahmen's MIDIs
« on: June 23, 2011, 10:38:14 AM »
Not entirely sure if this is the right board to post it into, but I felt like uploading some MIDIs courtesy of boredom. And by some, I mean about 250. Some are incomplete because I was a doofus and couldn't be bothered to finish them. :P I was going to include some of these in Doom WADs at some point or another but knowing what I'm like, I probably won't end up finishing them so I figured I might as well upload them here instead. The only ones that have been in WADs that I have released were the Random SP tracks and "Song I Can't Remember The Name Of".

Worth pointing out that because I don't take this sort of thing seriously (most of the time, that is), a fair few of these MIDIs are intentionally awful.

Sorry for the bump-ish response. Some of these are genius, Cheetah.... I laughed a lot at some of those titles/tracks, others were just plain good to listen to. You don't happen to make Doom levels, do you?

EDIT: I just listened to "Dont play a Piano with your Keyboard" the whole way through. My brain feels awesome! :P

Yeah, same here... I have a 90% complete WAD that's live 25 levels, with so many dehacked and GFX changes and additions, you can't count them all.. In fact I uploaded to youtube, It's called Painfully Cold if you ever think of it.

Anyway, I think Ive listened to every one of these MIDIs now. "stringy strings 1" reminds me of that one level in the original doom... Cant quite put my finger on it, but Im sure you know what I mean. It has square lights coming out of Nukage.. A winding corridors type level.

"some idiot trying to do death metal" is cool and I ended up learning how to play it :P if you loop it right from the point where it ends, it actually works really well for going back into the intro riff. Not sure if that's on purpose, but it's actually quite badass.

I ROFL'd at "jingle bells"... It just sounds hilarious
.. In fact, all these abrupt endings in the unfinished MIDIs are comedy gold.. My player automatically loops things which makes it even better. The Mario Kart 64 mountain one is the best abrupt ending of all of them, closely followed by the A team one XD

I hope you have some places besides these forums where you can advertise a few of these, because they're much better than some of the MIDIs on VGmusic or www.ultimate-guitar.com, as far as the real songs go. lol, listening to these really made me miss the booming days of Doom deathmatch, before I moved to this disconnected corner of the earth.. :P

I could probably put them on Youtube if I could figure out how to convert MIDIs into MP3s and still have them sound like they're in the General MIDI format. Unfortunately, the only way I know how is Audacity, and that's so time consuming that it's not worth it IMO. :\

Incidentally, I was in the process of designing a WAD called Random DM (a psuedo sequel or whatever to Random SP, which I actually did release) which is basically 13 deathmatch levels for Skulltag. Haven't finished it yet, mainly because I don't go on deathmatch often. :P

Some moar MIDIs from myself, which are mostly re-edits of other MIDIs because I felt like it.

Woot, I'll be listening to these too and reviewing a couple of them :P them. In fact, I can easily upload a video to youtube that will be faithful to the original sound.. Would you like me to do that for a few of these?

If they sound like the General MIDI format (which is what I used) then go ahead. ;)
