Dunk Kong for DOS
« on: February 21, 2011, 04:24:46 AM »
I chanced upon this thread at HC Gaming today and found this

It may be a PC game, but just like console pirates it's trying to rip-off a licensed character so this may as well be considered a PC pirate of sorts. I'd love to try it out, but all I can do is type the Korean for Dunk Kong, which brings no results on Google. One thing to consider though is that this came from a magazine scan, so there's no proof the game was actually released.

Anyone more capable of helping in figuring out the status of this thing?

By sheer chance, I just found this YouTube video of "King Kong 10" from a Russian abandonware site-- including a download link in the video description (!):

I really did find it by pure luck. I was looking through videos of other Taiwanese PC games to see what connections I could find for the other thread, and that one happened to show up in the related vids at one point.

Well, that sucked. I'm only at the second level, pretty damn hard to attack any enemies. Either you jump and shoot a basketball at them, or you spin, which leaves you out of control for a bit once he stops and is dizzy.

Why would they not even play any music during the levels? :/

Yeah, there's some rip-offs of those crocs from DKC and my first intuition was to jump on them. Instant death. Bad enough you don't even have a health bar, one hit and it's back to the beginning.

Edit: Then again, the site does claim it's a floppy rip. Maybe it was originally on CD, but then they remastered it onto floppies as well and left out the music? ::shrugs::

Also, to me this game sort of looks like a cross between Donkey Kong Country and Michael Jordan: Chaos in the Windy City for the SNES.

Another shameful bootleg released in Korea. :(
Yes, This one is for DOS and the ad says this game features Full 3D graphics.

Here's a rating document of this game created by KRB.(Korean)
