Old new dumps thread (don't use this anymore!)
« Reply #75 on: June 23, 2011, 12:53:39 PM »
Hi guys;

Here's a few new ones for Mega Drive / Genesis. Excuse the redundancy if these have already been dumped.

Open Season
http://www.box.net/shared/12pjn8yifzxk14xoaihn

Monsters Inc.
http://www.box.net/shared/0vgqlt8x07hdgm34kne8

Ice Age
http://www.box.net/shared/e1b5ysv9duot48bmzzu0

Disney's Cars
http://www.box.net/shared/gurbvg9sx7yk5nkvsoku

Fatal Fury
This one was from a pirate multicart I had, possibly different from the final US version. Has "May 1993" April 1993 on the title screen.

Bare Knuckle III
Traded to me initially as a prototype. Later found out it was just a pirate, but may be different from the final retail release. Does not have any region protection in place, so works unpatched on any region console.

For the curious who don't want to bother to download the above hacks to find out what they are... (Spoiler-tagging this because hey, curiosity can be fun.)

Looking at that Fatal Fury "pirate", ironically (given that the supposed Bare Knuckle III prototype is a pirate) it looks like a prototype to me. The Mega Drive port of Garou Densetsu was released in April 1993, and SNK were presumably producing Fatal Fury at the at the same time.

I know I preordered it and got it as soon as it was released, but there was no such thing as a day-1 launch for games during that time. I specifically remember it arriving sometime prior to June because school was still in session.

I guess if we could find a definite release date or maybe some other clear differences it would settle the question. Also notice it doesn't show the Sega logo at the start, yet it still has the "pause" as if it was displaying it (like most Sega pirates do). The ROM is overdumped, due to me being too lazy to trim it to the correct size. The cart itself used the same art as the US/HK version, and was a multicart along with.....

Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure
http://www.box.net/shared/59ggqcrj7h4zx3czgyme

Which was also released sometime in '93. This is also an undumped (but not necessarily different) pirate variant. Never played the original so I can't judge anything different offhand.

Almost 100% positive it's been done before but...

Mortal Kombat 6 28 People - Mega Drive
http://www.box.net/shared/1yrjegmsu6o9qg1mngdo

Incredibly lazy job by Glorysun. Maybe their first?

Now this next one I did not dump but rather came across it a while ago on some obscure forum I can't remember. At the time I tried it and wrote it off as a YONG YONGty fan made hack. I guess I'm behind the times because this week I found out it is actually a legitimate pirate hack, I've came across multiple pictures of cart variations of it.

Mortal Kombat III (Hack) - SNES
http://www.box.net/shared/klbqbplfmtg6pi3zqonf

Now this isn't the actual MK3, but rather a hack of MKII with Shao Kahn and the 3 hidden characters playable, plus a strange FMV (!) intro that I don't really understand the reason for being there.

These hacks remind me a lot of Hummer Team's Famicom ports of the MK games, where the rereleases added lots of repeats for no apparent reason.

Also, call me crazy but I think the SNES one is actually a homebrew hack. Worth pointing out that every now and then, pirates release homebrews (for example, they released Sonic Megamix on cartridge without permission) so don't assume that just because it was released on a cart, it was made by pirates.

Blah blah blah[/quote]

Forget everything I had written a few minutes ago. Straight from the dumper....

"The game was a bootleg pirated cart appeared on brazil over than 10 years ago and never was dumped. It was dumped some days ago, the hack consists of the game with Shao Khan, Noob (ololololol) Saibot, smoke and jade being playable."

At least the character names in MK6 are a source of unintentional hilarity. Rayman? Meninja? Ninjay? Ninjakiller? Nokia?

cah4e3 is back ~ http://cah4e3.shedevr.org.ru/dumping_2011.php
apparently his old dumping hardware had stopped working. but hes got a new awesome one now.
his latest dump is a russian hack of Family Basic, sounds like it'd be an interesting cart to own - it had connectors for a PC keyboard and tape recorder on the actual cart so you could use it (and save!) with any famicom/clone in conjunction with standard hardware, without needing the Nintendo stuff.

I wonder what the cart looks like though.

Also I'm glad that Cah4e3 is back now with some new dumping material. I want to see what he will be dumping soon.
