Interesting new GBA multicarts from China
« on: December 08, 2017, 01:18:34 PM »
Not sure if anyone else is interested much in these, but while on Taobao I saw a nice collection of new GBA multicarts numbered AC001-AC008 and I've always liked GBA multicarts so I decided to buy them and see what they were like. The first interesting thing is how many games are on them - up to 723 in 1. Unlike previous efforts these numbers are genuine - there are no repeats on any of the carts as far as I know, although some games do appear on multiple of the different cartridges.

The games on them are a mixture of GBA games, many of them in Chinese translated either officially or unofficially and some hacked to bring them more up to date e.g. "Pokemon X and Y" - which I believe are Ruby/Sapphire based but with newer Pokemon; original Gameboy games running in Goomba and NES games running in PocketNES. There are a good number of bootlegs included among the NES games including Kart Fighter and Aladdin 4 along with the usual staples of Mario hacks etc. I don't think there's anything particularly special though.

The Taobao link for the entire collection is https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=547942028207 but you can also buy them individually which is probably more sensible if you're not a collector of these things.

Huh, that actually is a decent variety of games if they're no repeats.  I've seen some multis like this on the site but never thought a huge deal about them (I'm always hunting official bootleg products) but it's good to know they're worthwhile; the GBA multi I have has three mid-era licensed NES games and the rest are generic multi fodder, nothing outstanding.

Unfortunately there is no published English list of games that I could find. If anyone is curious, this is the Chinese list for the 723 in 1 run through Google Translate which is actually a lot worse than the English names in the menu, which are pretty much all correct presumably because they're taken from the name of the ROM.

Spoiler: click to toggle

And the original Chinese:

The Chinese game lists for all of the other carts is on the Taobao link posted previously, unfortunately as images so hard to translate or search (luckily for the 723in1 I found a text list on another Taobao item listing).[/b]

Do my eyes deceive me? Did I just see a cart with Pokemon X and Y on it? O.o It probably hasn't got it for real... just a cheap scheme to make the unsuspecting to obtain it. Interestings finds but, when GBA bootlegs are usually a scarcity.

Yes, they're Chinese hacks of Ruby/Sapphire. I think they have newer Pokemon including ones from X and Y but I don't read enough Chinese nor have played long enough to know. I also bought "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon HeartGold" as individual games so I could dump them without having to figure out the "mapper" the multicart uses if they seemed interesting.
