Clone console
« on: October 31, 2016, 06:44:41 PM »
A rip of an unlicensed game was posted on a Chinese discussion board from a clone console. I was referred to this release by a friend, and we're not sure what emulator, if any, will run this. We don't really know what hardware it copies.

This clone console appears to be 16-bit. Unfortunately, As of now, the hardware used in those clone consoles have yet to be emulated, but if it already is, the emulation is very likely to be far from perfect. If your clone console somehow happens to be 8-bit, you can try to dump its rom and run it using the EmuVT emulator. Chances are that it will be unplayable though.

Looks like it's one of Subor's 32-bit consoles similar to the one released by Lexibook. If that's the case I think they run on 32-bit Sunplus hardware, SPG293 based on strings in the elf file.

There is support for some variants of SPG hardware in MESS/MAME at least for the Hyperscan and Vii, but I don't know if it's a compatible type & I don't think you can load up these Subor games into it as-is. Would definitely need work on the emulation side, but it's not a million miles away from being possible.
