Pirate Talk / Can anyone come up with a pirate game editor?
« on: March 25, 2013, 04:55:26 PM »
Yeah, ASM is pretty much the language you ought to learn if you want to increase the probability of your games working... Quickly. Very, very quickly and swiftly (same goes for ZX Spectrum, which made masterpieces like this and this possible on a relatively weak Z80 chip).

There is also an alternative, though: you can try to create games in pure C, especially considering there's a ref article covering such a process... Except it's pretty limited. And slow. Not to mention I haven't even tried it directly since I'm more a Java man rather than a C(++) coder.  :pandaaway:
Oh, one more thing: you may definitely need to find an enthusiast who can modify the nes.cfg file, because the one Shiru gives in his tutorial is for the mapperless games (i. e. you will get a Mapper 0 message when you'll try to run it on the emul).

...okay, yet one more: it's also adapted for the use of Shiru's very own quick yet somewhat functional Famitone sound engine. It's actually capable of recreating most of Hummer Team's tracks, as you could see in this thread.

I know this might be a bit outdated, but if you're still interested in stuff that Kinamania releases and can't quite catch up with Dendy Chronicles 8, there you go! I've subbed this sucker in and out.

There might be more unexploited stuff I can translate and more chances to expand over Shiru's translations (which in fact shorten a lot more sentences than my recent subs do).

Coincidentally, I'm already trying to help my sis to beat the real Emerald Version. :D

I guess she's gonna be amused for a while.

EDIT: Okay, not sure about the rest of PGC, but I see this crap for the first time personally. Gotta love how the player's sprite is Brendon, which suddenly turns into May during the battle! And the unfitting music, of course.

EDIT2: It also appears that a random dragon pokemon (forgot his name) is stalking you all around the tall grass until it suddenly unleashes an horde of mysterious and legendary yet underleveled crap! Sheesh, how many guys have actually bought this game?

Hacker Center / Super Mario World (NES) gfx hack

I personally think that the Hummer's version looks roughly as colorful as the original compared to the hack, but not that the hack looks terrible, no. It's worth the effort!

Will wait for the final version.

At least Duludubi Star didn't just take screenshots of SMG and use them as levels!
Yeah, but they still went as far to steal Klonoa's voice.

Okay, since neither Samuri nor ZDog were dumped yet, I guess I'll give a try on the first approach, just without having the complete feature/game list.

Wait, did Xing Ji Wu Shi: Super Fighter ever had music?  :pandamad:

Anyway, thanks for the translation, at least now I'll know who exactly is behind these games!

...we might need some cred on Doraemon (that Somari hack) as well!

Is my Famitracker producing it wrong, or is the Triangle Drum file not sounding properly? It's supposed to be the percussion that appears at 0.05 in that video above, right? Because all I hear is a sound that goes down, like when you get hurt. Which file is supposed to be those drums?
The noise drums. You could at least check how it works with the sample .ftm files (with one of them actually being Misirlou).

Wait I'm confused. Is this a new game (based off the Hummer's work) or a complation of remakes? :\
I'd like to see a game that simulates the feel of a Hummer game, having their mascot and all the characters in. :D
The thing is, I still can't decide whether it's gonna be the first or the second. The second means that about 70% of stuff will be new, but the first means that most of the game are actually gonna be finished. Like, imagine Somari having Scrap Brain Zone and KoF96 having the original game's cast.

While I'm attempting to take my first steps in Android coding, how about pre-planning a project which will be adored by all ye obscure gaming lovers?

The concept's codename (it will most likely be its' final name, too) is Hummertek, which aims at creating the most accurate ports or pastiches of H. Cheng's works ever. Discounting some of the "collector's features", such as avatar characters, music replacement menu, more complete versions of obviously unfinished games, "typo killer", "boobie censorship" and so on, and so on.

Because I can.  :pandaaway:

So far, I've got two ideas on how such a game should be done:
 • By making a collection of most of the older (which is, pre-VT) games by Hummer Team.
 • By using an approach similar to Game Center CX on Nintendo DS (otherwise known as Retro Game Challenge), where you get to play a multicart similar to Samuri or ZDog, but with a couple of faux-Hummer games (so far, I've thought of ports of Sonic 3 and a MegaDrive fighting game based on Lord of the Rings) and a separate beat 'em up game.
Suggestions are welcome.

While the game itself is still being under its' pre-development phase, there are also attempts at making music for the project, so YO CHECK DIS OUT!  :pandahappy:

Going a bit offtopic. It appears that the example song got leaked somewhere and, as a result, people really began to think it was made by Hummer himself! Oh boy...

Well, seeing is believing.
