Guys, guys, guys. Let's NOT get in an argument here, okay? That's the least kind of thing this forum needs right now.

Look, money is complicated, and so is the economy. But if we don't find a way to get this found and eventually dumped, then I think that people will eventually leave the forum in shame and then this forum will eventually go downhill.
It's already found bro.  I can get one for you guys to dump and whatever, but not for $4.  Probably $20 or so and it's yours.
Link us to it then!  :pandahappy:
You only want to pay $4, so it is out of your league.  If you want the link, you can see it in my collection photo ;)

Game Boy / Have any of the Sintax GBA games been dumped?
« on: May 29, 2015, 08:59:48 PM »
The game would most likely not be written in Taiwanese because Taiwanese is primarily a spoken language.  ;)  Maybe you mean to say that it was written in a combination of Traditional and Simplified characters?

Regarding the GBA games being sold in Taiwan or not, the only ones I have *ever* seen were the GBA games that were just the same as the GBC games, albeit in GBA shells.  And I have about 20 of those games (all that I could find for sale) on my game collection shelf right now.  Surely, if the above-mentioned Sintax games (or whoever actually made them) were highly released/distributed in Taiwan, I should have found a few of them by now, right guys?

Time to make it yours!  Only $25, if I were the seller, I would do around $20, but still acceptable price.

How much you willing to pay for this game?
Oh, I'd go for $4.00.
Ugh.  That's the problem with you guys (most of the people here on this particular board).  Everyone wants everything for unrealistic prices, and then they wonder why this stuff isn't available to them.  Let's take the 120 in 1, for example.

From what research I have done, the game had been bundled with Famiclones.  Asking price easily $20+ for a bundle of game + cheap / generic Famiclone.  That in turn leads to the following situation.

You get someone (from an area where finding the item is possible) to spend hours doing the legwork to track down one of these clone / 120 in 1 bundles.  Then the said seller purchases the bundle for you, paying $20 or $25 or whatever.  Then they turn around and sell the game to you for $4, and they are $16+ USD in the hole, with a shitty ass clone that no one wants, not even themselves.  Not only does the guy waste a lot of time helping you out, he or she also loses money on the deal, and doesn't make a cent.  Throw in paypal fees and stuff like that, and the seller loses even more money.  It just isn't realistic.

The notion that games like this are easy to find in Taiwan / China / Hong Kong / Korea / etc and thus should be made available to the Western masses, cheaply and per request, is a dated stereotype.  Many of these carts have been out of production for years, and many of the stores stopped carrying Famicom stuff 10+ years ago, aside from some overpriced Ali Express-esque modern bootlegs.

So when I see someone say that they are looking for a game, and then put their purchase price at $4, I just laugh and at the same time feel insulted.  $20 or $25, maybe I could help you, but $4, you won't find many willing to help you for that price

Discussion Center / I feel like a jerk to myself...

My brother has autism, and while he always got good grades in school, he never really fit in.  This was back in the days before people really had autism diagnosed, so he just knew he was different, but tried to fake the part around his friends and what not.  Later after he was diagnosed as having autism and the family came to understand and accept his differences and special needs better, my brother said that he felt much better himself, as he said that he always felt as if he were an actor or something, never really being himself before.

I know myself that although I don't have autism, I definitely do have some social inadequacies going on at times.

There are so many versions of the educational software, it is not even funny.  So many language translations and what not.  I think rarity cannot be properly gauged for this sort of thing...I have some Arabic educational software, some of which is only included with clones sold in that region.  Quite rare, imo, but to a person from that area, a Thai version might be rarer.  Haha.

Company articles are constantly ruined by some anonymous contributors. Those editors have different IP address, but the things they add up and their writing style suggests these contributors are actually one person using multiple IP address.

Most of edits by this editor seems to be false info and only a small portion of the edit is true.(Like Digimon Pocket by VF being hacked re-release of Pokemon Ruby) Those suspicious/nonsense edits share these traits:

*Likes to claim a game is hack of other game(completely unrelated in most cases), like Magic Girl by Gamtec is a hack of Galaxian.
*Tries to make up connections between unrelated random companies without any proof. Li Cheng, Waixing and Gowin seem to be the editor's favorites.
*Replaces fact that is already confirmed with something that just doesn't make sense. Now Waixing's Luo Ke Ren X is claimed to be 'a hack of numen wager by waixing', rather than a hack of Sugoro Quest!
*Capital letters are rarely used.

I've reverted back some of this editor's works, but I can't do it all due to lack of knowledge - I'm not sure about is it OK to just revert it all for some articles, especially when it is about modern Famicom-related companies. Well, I can't tell something false about what I actually don't know properly.

So I think recent edits on company articles(including my reverts since maybe I did something wrong as well) really should be checked by some experts, and every false information must be taken out.
Im not sure about the rest of the stuff, but this one is actually true:

*Replaces fact that is already confirmed with something that just doesn't make sense. Now Waixing's Luo Ke Ren X is claimed to be 'a hack of numen wager by waixing', rather than a hack of Sugoro Quest!

Oh... So it's like a SuperFamicom Version of the Famicom's Disk System?
Eh, sort of, but not exactly.  A lot of bootleg companies had made disk-based copiers for Super Famicom / Super Nintendo, which "dumped" the games onto numerous floppy disks, which could then run without needing the cartridge.  I imagine this game was made to run through one of those.

You would use one of the many different SNES copiers, which all use generic floppies.  From the looks of the packaging, it seems this game was just distributed on generic disks, and not on cart format, ever.

1984-1992 / The various versions of Poke Block
« on: May 03, 2015, 12:00:37 PM »
Yes, there was a NES stand alone prototype of Stakk'm that has been found; originally the game was to be a stand alone (according to AVE instruction manuals), but then it ultimately just ended up being on the Maxi 15 cart.  It sounds like we are both of the belief that Stakk'm was only a localized name for the Western market, i.e. something created by the guys at AVE, and that a Famicom version with that name doesn't exist.

I still wonder about an Idea-Tek published version of Poke Block though, and regarding "Pipe Block", until I see pics, I think it is just a mistake.

1984-1992 / The various versions of Poke Block
« on: May 02, 2015, 01:46:03 PM »
I am trying to figure out about the various versions of the Idea-Tek game, Poke Block.  Here is what I know thus far:

Number Tiles versions:

-4 in 1 (MGC-26) version:  One of four games on a multicart, credits 1991 copyright screen with Idea-Tek as the owner.  Micro Genius was the publisher of this cart.

-Poke Block (MGC-12) version:  1991 copyright screen, Idea-Tek credited, published my Micro Genius

-Stakk'm (found on AVE's Maxi 15 cartridge):  American Video Entertainment is the publisher, TXC is the copyright owner, 1992 release

Mahjong Tiles versions:

AV Dragon Mahjang version:  Nudity added, 1991 copyright, published in Japan by Hacker International

Mahjong Block:  1991 copyright, Idea-Tek credited, as well as Super Mega (SM is the publisher, I guess)

Other Versions known to exist (contents unverified):

-MGC-023 (one game on a 6 in 1 cart by Micro Genius)

-MGC-008 (Mahjong Block) - published by Micro Genius

-MGC-004 (Pipe Block) - published by Micro Genius

The information about these three titles comes from the page below, but I don't know which version of the game they contain, along with if there are changes to the title screen credits or not.

http://cah4e3.shedevr.org.ru/cartsbase.php

Now my questions are as follows:

(1)  Has anyone ever seen a Famicom version of Poke Block (number tiles version), which was PUBLISHED by Idea Tek?  The closest I have found is the Dragon Mahjong version by Super Mega, which had published several Idea Tek games.

(2)  Was the game ever released under the Stakk'm title on Famicom?  (I think probably not)

(3)  Does anyone have any pictures of either the title screen or cartridge for the infamous "Pipe Block" version of the game, which is mentioned on cah4e3's page?  Other than his note, I have not found anything on this version of the game.

Thanks!

On another note, I saw a picture from a Micro Genius console box that shows a version of Poke Block with Super Mega credited, as well as Idea-Tek.  This lends some credence to another version of the game being out there, with IT/SM as the publisher.  I have not found anything else besides a screenshot from a console box though.

Oh, darn. I wonder why the heck Sintax put protection on these games? It is odd that these companies put more protection on their "games" than actual companies do. I really wish the ROM's for all of the Sintax GBA platformers will surface on the internet some day, because I'd love to have a chance to play them.
This will be quite a difficult feat to accomplish, due to the protection, but also because there are so many Sintax games out there.  We are talking over a hundred different games, if ID numbers are to be believed.  Some (if not all) of the GBA releases are just GBC games in GBA cases.  I have one or two Sintax games in both GBC and GBA format, and the games are identical.

No it cannot be found on taobao, at least not the original (Taiwanese) release.  That version is quite rare, I only saw one (Chinese language) version of it for sale ever, though later I saw the sucky mainlander bootleg releases for sale, on ebay.

Why make a game based off of a tragic event?  Look at all the WW2 based games.  My grandfather was in the war, and so were a lot of others.  Tragic event, surely.  Lots died, not pleasant.  While I agree that not enough time has passed to be making games on this, back in 2007 when I was in Germany, I remember seeing a Where is Waldo type book, only it was called "Where in the World is Osama" or something like that.  So just remember, just because it hits home for us USA people, it doesn't do so as much for the guys abroad.
