Articles for "Bootleg Hotspots"
« on: October 08, 2010, 08:22:56 PM »
I was thinking about it for a while and I wonder if it would be all right to make articles based off of media that has been the subject in bootlegs. You don't have to get all fancy with it like with Wikipedia. It's better off just making a summary of the stuff that's important. Me and Cheetah came up with a list of articles if this is a good idea:

List:
  • Mario
  • Sonic
  • Donkey Kong
  • Megaman
  • Earthworm Jim
  • Contra
  • Street Fighter
  • Mortal Kombat
  • King of Fighters
  • Fatal Fury
  • Dance Dance Revolution
  • Dragon Ball Z
  • Pokemon
  • Digimon
  • Aladdin
  • Titanic
  • Harry Potter
It wouldn't hurt to suggest more.

Final Fantasy comes to mind too. That and pandas. :D
But yeah, I think its a good idea - might be worth having articles on the consoles bootlegs were made for too.

This sounds like it goes off a bit much to me. Most people should know what all that stuff is already I'd think. An article on Mario, who doesn't know who he is? :P

Well, it's everyone else's time if they want to do it, not mine ;) I'm still waiting to get new pirates so I can write new pages myself.

we can write them from more of a pirate perspective though (like the current mario article) - its a nice way of linking together all the various pirate and official stuff in a series IMO.

After seeing the Mario one I guess I see the direction you're going. It possibly is a nice thing to have, in case anyone is curious about all thekind of priates popular franchises have.

Maybe just add "Sports", because there are literally a ton of bootleg sports games of all different types.

EDIT: I didnt get what you were doing at first... I thought this was just going to be a list of key phrases related to bootlegs for the sake of sorting all the info we've got - Everyone knows what sports are.  But do you really think it's necessary to write an article on every one of those subjects? Im sure between wikipedia and Google, everyone knows or can easily find out what all of those franchises are, in excruciating detail if necessary.. It's not a bad idea, Im just not sure how beneficial it will be.

Meh, it's more of how big they were in the pirated world and the various games related to them.
...and we've hardly did anything about making these articles.

Meh, it's more of how big they were in the pirated world and the various games related to them.
...and we've hardly did anything about making these articles.[/quote]Ah, so how the world of pirates (in the 90's especially, Im assuming) viewed Mario or Sonic. I imagine it was something like " =O THEY SELL SO MUCH. YONG YONG knockoff with Mario's head pasted on, here I come!" But in reality Im sure you'll be able to pull a lot more out of it than just that. I just personally wouldn't have the patience to sit and write an article about pirated games, or comparing them to their real couterparts... Ive tried a few times but I just never put down anyhing useful and my comparisons between the two versions kinda suck, but I digress..

Maybe rather than sports, Wii should be a topic. We all know how the pirates view the Wii.. Something to replicate with the cheapest plastic known to man, and sell it for a whopping ~$10. If you guys end up writing even one of these articles, keep us posted. I'd definitely give them a read. Maybe something in the same vein as tORP... but completely different. I can read that page all day, I swear..
