Reverie made his own IRC channel for Shi Kong Xing Shou remake project : irc.stormbit.net/skxsremake

It seems that he's gathering people to make the remake : Programmer, Spriter, Musician, Translators and so on.

Meanwhile, I'm planning another remake project : Galactic Beasts R.
In this project, I made some adjustments on scenario.

EDIT : To Reverie - Actually, If you allow me to enter your remake project as scenario writer, I'll make scenario for you.

Why am I skeptical :p

Is this another classic example of someone with an idea so they decide to "hire" everyone to do all the work for them, and they're just the leader(which translates to a person that just watches them work and says "yes, yes that's what I want")?

All the best if it's not. I'm a pessimist when I see projects like this though lol

Fraud isn't the right word to use. :P Not sure how else to word what I said without sounding redundant, though.

I'm surprised I wasn't the one who posted the topic about this, seeing as I wanted to make sure we had some proof of concepts stuffs done first before making a topic anywhere, but yes... I am planning to work on a remake of Shi Kong Xing Shou and have made a channel so it'd be easier to work with the team. As Sink Penol said, it's on StormBit (irc.stormbit.net or iris.stormbit.net if you don't have a client). We already have a few people, but if you're interested in helping out (or just watching us plan) stop on by!

Also, the bit about having a team is to compensate for areas in which others lack (for instance, I can't do art worth a crap), Barver. (And because this took the place of another project, but that's another story)

Develop Status in 03/02/2012 :
Main team is organized, backups still needed.
Style decided : 16-bit

Music
* Music engine is based on Sega Genesis(Megadrive).
* Battle 1 theme is on adjust.

Art
* No updates. Both teammates are busy.

Programming
* No updates.

Translation
* No updates. The translator is now playing original SKXS via DS.

Scenario
* Some edit in prologue : After you get Bladeberus, you'll head to State of Science. While heading State of Science, Ballot finds a boy is attacked by Planjaw(=Headed Plant, Check out my walkthrough for details.). Ballot tries to save him and suceeds. And Ballot arrives at State of Science and Episode 1 will begin.
Develop status in 03/03/2012 :

 * Battle 1 theme is done!

Well, it uses Megadrive sound engine, but some of components(like drums) are GBA's.

As a (albeit more recent) fan of Vast Fame's RPG games, I am in full support of this project. Though if you guys wanted to hear my personal thoughts (not starting any flamewars here) on how a remake could be done (though it'd take a lot of work), it'd probably follow the layout of counterpart Shui Hu Shen Shou (including, but not limited to: NES/GBC visuals (unlike the Megadrive/Genesis theme), longer, less linear routes, more random-generated battles with wild beasts (them not occurring in a set order with a set level), "trainers" to battle once each unless a special item were to be used, some later chapters requiring players to backtrack to old areas (allowing players to return to cities in previous chapters), a rival character, and a "tower" system also alike SHSS but with "trainers" and no wild beasts inside. Areas would be added, changed, or re-designed, post-game scenarios, and some of the lousier-looking SKXS beasts would be re-drawn. And why I say "SKXS Beasts" is because I'd like for the monsters from SHSS to appear as well, because they are good examples of well-drawn monsters.

Yea I just got lost for a sec there. O.o

EDIT: If there existed by any possible means tile sets from Vast Fame's RPG's, plus a complete map of Shi Kong Xing Shou, with all towns connected and not separate like in the guidebooks, I could compile up a massive (though 8-bit) map of a possible remake.

I'm terribly sorry for this mega-bump, but I'd love to help on either:
*Art. (I'm gettin' used to drawing Vast Fame characters)
*Music. (I'm not BRILLIANT at music, but I can try to remake some stuff from the original)
I can't do the other stuff because I can't program and I don't know Chinese.

But yeah, if you ever need help on that stuff, I'll be glad to contribute. ^_^
