Where to find some pirate cartridges?
« on: September 28, 2012, 02:15:10 PM »
Well, there have been a few pirate carts floating around on eBay, and there is the usual selection of junk from Volumerates.. But have any other websites popped up that are selling Famicom cartridges? I found a forum talking about this website "NDScardsale" where they were getting cartridges that sounded like a mix between Volumerates carts, and other equally new, but more durable/reliable ones as well that cost a tad more. I would love to get a few decent multicarts, all of mine are flimsy junk.

Anyone know where I should be looking? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's spent countless hours scouring the web to no avail.. All these Russian and Polish acution sites with DKC4 and EWJ3 cartridges seem like such a tease, if only PayPal was truly global, pirate carts could finally lose their inflated value and be sold for what they're really worth.. But now I'm ranting :P

You can try Taobao, Yahoo Auctions Taiwan, and Ruten for unlicensed/bootleg stuff if you haven't already.  You'd have to know the Chinese title for the games and use an ordering service, but that's where I find half of my stuff.  You'd also need to keep checking up on the site like you would do with Ebay.  You can use a Taobao ordering site like Taobaonow for, well, Taobao, and Taiwan Shopoholic for the other two or any other Taiwan shopping site.

Taobao should be your best bet. Ruten/Yahoo is very expensive compared to it. And you often needs to pay fees with those ordering services.

Never heard of such thing. I have checked alegro few times, and they were never there. And if they were popping up so often there, many people would buy them to resell them on ebay or forums.

FamicomWorld is also a good place to look for FC pirates. It has much more stuff than ebay, prices are allright and it is a forum all about famicom :D

I'm pretty sure Volumerates has gone out of business. NDSCardSale is/was the same company.

but yeah, Taobao is usually a good place to look - try searching for "fc游戏卡". and there are literally hundreds of different agents who will buy stuff for you - as well as the one Qiezei recommended I've listed a few that have been good for me in this thread. Most new carts from Taobao will probably be just as cheaply made as the volumerates ones though.

Thanks you guys for all the links and suggestions, and the info about Agents. I think last night I was looking at some Polish site that had photos of pirate carts, but they weren't actually for sale, I was just half asleep :p

Wow, I didn't realize VR had shut down, it must have happened within the last 2 weeks or so. Damn, that's a step backwards, but oh well.
