Heya guys, I'm working on fixing a gameboy ROM now, so I figured to show how to know if a pirate is dumpable or not!
You will need:
An undumped pirate
A cheat cart
(and a dumper if you're actually gonna dump yourself)
~
Step 1: Put the cart in the cheat device
Step 2: Put it in a gameboy (uh lol no shit Sherlock!)
Step 3: Try it with the cheat switch turning 'OFF'. It should work.
Step 4: Now try with cheats 'ON'. If it works, then all to fix the game is in the header (or the 4mb trick, then if not, just switching around banks)!
If it doesn't work however, then fixing it is a pain, meaning you have to edit the damn code for it to work.

Hope this helps, taizou, BigFred and everyone else who does this!
Warning: it's only to see the strength of the protection.

I'm going to release a Sintax game every day until Christmas (I hope) so.. here's the first!
http://hhug.me/?post=18
it's Shin Sangoku Musou 2, which is already dumped, but this version has an intro and stuff. Anyway this is legitimately a good game, so you should play it!

Wow, everyday :o

Are Sintax games that, like, dumpable now? Can you go through most you have without worrying about coming up dry? =p

I might have to look into sending you my games for dumping someday. Or just buy the same device you have.

It's the later games that are more likely to dump, earlier games don't work so easily, I think. Well Pocket Monster Carbuncle wouldn't work, so it's just luck.

nah it's the earlier ones I can dump - not 100%, but some of them at least. they updated their protection later on I guess. The later ones are mostly pretty bad anyway.

Sweet dumps. Gotta check out that LOTR one. Lion King it's been awhile but I remember the music in the game ripped off Chrono Trigger's infamous Wind Scene music.

IIRC the music in that game is from Kandume Monsters, so if it rips off Chrono Trigger, Kandume ripped it off first.

Can't really blame Sintax. They used it in Ice Age and stuff. Maybe they had a obscure GBS collection, I dunno!
