From ROM dump to emulator
« on: January 22, 2026, 01:22:11 PM »
Hi,
I recently couldn't resist taking a retro handheld (240games) home with me out of curiosity what was inside and if i could make it run other games. Some google image searches later I learned a new word, NOAC. I amputated its flash memory and read its content several times with reinserting just to be somewhat sure of a good read (see attachements).

Now i was hoping to get this rom dump running in an emulator but haven't succeeded yet. Is there a way to determine which hardware this rom is made for? I suppose something like VT03? I'm very new to this NOAC world :)

Much appreciated.

It's likely either VT09 or some derivative of VT369, but I could not determine the specific mapper. It's definitely strange; it contains VT03 games that are converted to VT09 format, something I've never seen before on another console. I attached two VT09-converted game extracts below (with Thin Ice having its copyright restored).

As a side note, does anyone know what this chicken-ish sprite set is at the start of the ROM? It's heavily overwritten (whatever it is), but I don't recognize it as a game.
