Another Theory (Ka Sheng - NGCA)

So while adding Pokemon Hong Kong Gold to the wiki I stumbled on this multicart that contains both the Gold and Silver version. Interestingly, the menu it uses is strikingly similar to one used by NGCA in many of their multicarts. In tabor's thread (http://bootleg.games/BGC_Forum/index.php?topic=3294.msg23342#msg23342), Pokemon Hong Kong gold is listed as being published by Ka Sheng, so naturally I'm wondering if there's some connection between the two if they use the same menu engine.

The guy also made a video documenting his cartridge in which he takes apart the shell to reveal the pcb. It confirms it was made by NGCA since it has the stamp, some ID code engraved in copper and the 4 digit clock thingy.

So is the Ka Sheng release entirely different from this then, and it was published by both companies independendly??

None of the carts in this thread look like Ka Sheng carts. The game has multiple publishers

For reference there are a few different types of IDs that Ka Sheng multis are known to use on Gameboy multis. Examples include IDs that start with NT, JU, CY, UA, CA, US, and a couple other obscure ones that are almost never used. UA, NT, and CY I would say are the most common. US is also common, but those tend to not have anything good on them

Also, they often (but not always) use translucent plastic, sometimes with glitter

I honestly jumped the gun with this and didn't consider that many games were commonly stolen also between bootleggers. So I figured if Ka Sheng had published them, and only them, how come they use the same PCB as NGCA... Still, thanks for the IDs

Also do you know if some of the Pokémon fan translations were also stolen by pirates? the HC Gold is likely taken from the PR Trans Gold which was finished by pirates and then disguised as their own, but did they also steal the PR Trans Gold or Vida Silver and released that without any edits?

I wanted to add them to the wiki but then stopped myself since I didn't actually know if they actually existed on physical bootleg carts. They would be useful to add since many people remember playing them as a kid so that's something they would maybe look up online.

I've seen stuff by PR Trans make it onto pirate carts (Pikachu Land is by them, and sometimes credtis them even on pirate carts). Not sure about unmodified stuff from them though. I'd say that I don't remember stuff on the matter clearly enough that I'd advise putting it on the wiki. Also gotta factor in that these translations went through multiple revisions
