Retro Station Pocket System GB-50: TF Card support?
« on: June 11, 2022, 01:51:31 AM »
Hi folks, I'd like to know if anyone had issues like me.

I recently purchased a famiclone handheld on AliExpress, which was advertised with TF Card support (for loading new ROMs).
The unit did not come with the TF card, however.
(I requested to the seller again)

Reference:  http://notes.12bit.club/Retro_Station_Pocket_System_GB-50

According to this page, the unit should support loading ROMs from the TF Card.

To try out some Mapper 0 and Mapper 4 Roms, I prepared the TF card like this:

- TF Card: 8GB
- Format: FAT32
- Created "GAMES" folder and put some roms inside

Symptoms:

- The unit can recognize the TF Card
- Rom file names are shown
- Mapper 4 games: Most shows "ROM loading screen with percentage" ---> Game does not boot (Black Screen, no sound)
- Mapper 0 games: only "10 Yard fight" works. To my surprise, many other Mapper 0 games also load "10 Yard Fight".
And this is totally strange... even after I formatted the TF and put roms back in (EXCEPT "10 Yard Fight"), many roms STILL load the same game, even it does NOT exist on the TF card!

On both Mapper 0/4 games, some roms do not load and instantly reset the unit into "white" screen with the default menu music. I think due to ROM compatibility.

Do I need a special TF card which comes from the seller to correctly load games? (Normally formatted TF card cannot be used?)
Or do I need to use a special tool to specially prepare the TF Card?

Your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
