Pokemon Crystal from SKOB
« on: June 01, 2011, 10:54:19 PM »

Pic from an auction some time ago. For anyone that saw SKOB's old website, there was this pic of the box:

I'm sure some already can recognize by the screenshots that this game seems to be a sort of basis for Pokemon Gold Silver on SNES. You can only play as Chikorita in this one, and none of the levels are the same as the SNES one. But like that one, Pokemon Crystal is also only four short levels.

I don't know much more to say, but at least now we can know what it is :) Next on the list is to find that Digimon game they made  :D

i get an anti-hotlinking thing for the screenshot image, i've rehosted it here - http://img32.imageshack.us/img32/605/21104297877109297.jpg
I was totally just expecting this to be a translation of the original Pokemon Crystal lol. i wonder why they'd make a game called Pokemon Crystal for the GBC when there was already an official one?

I fixed the first image with your link, though it loads fine for me, not sure what's wrong.

Perhaps they called it Pokemon Crystal in order to fool people into buying it, not knowing what to expect :P I assumed it wouldn't be a simple translation since I've yet to see SKOB make anything besides original games.

OK, definitely some sort of Sintax/SKOB connection going on here. There's the PC Paint fonts. There's also the music, which is from Lemmings from GBC... just like Sintax's Harry Potter game.

Edit: Possibly BBD developed for both publishers? That'd at least be a reasonable explanation.

Edit #2: I know there's some other game that has "S-GBC" as its boot logo, as described by WhiteLionness, but I cannot remember which for the life of me.

Edit #3: Ah, that's it! Taizou's 12-in-1 VFame cart has that logo in the menu dump. Curiouser and curiouser...

Yeah there's definitely something between Sintax and SKOB - there's leftover Chinese text from SKOB's Fire Emblem in Sintax's Pokemon Sapphire. BBD seems like the most likely connection to me.

i have absolutely no idea why that S-GBC logo would be in there though. o_o
