Gorilla 3 and "New Super Color 145-in-1"
« on: June 26, 2011, 04:14:22 PM »
On YouTube, ToadTReborn informed me of a multicart called New Super Color 145-in-1 and one of the games it contains is Gorilla 3 which is a really poor copy of Donkey Kong Country 3 and you only play as Kiddy Kong. However, the game's developers are unknown and of course, no ROM dump of it exists unless someone can do that once they ever find it.

Any of you heard about it, or is it just me and ToadT? I'd really like to see what Gorilla 3's like and what other interesting pirate games are crammed in the multicart.

Never heard of that one before - if its really bad, my guess would be its a Yong Yong game using the same engine as their other DK pirate. is there any chance he could take screenshots or a video or something?

Well I said on RXcomm that it was a renamed version of Donkey Kong 3, but you forgot to point out that it's a Game Boy multicart and not for the Famicom or NES. And yeah, "really poor" basically describes Yong Yong's games as a whole. Well actually, adding about 47 profanities would increase the accuracy but whatever. :P

Sounds like it's possibly Yong Yong's Donkey Kong 5 or whatever that was called.

I hope he takes video or something of it, if possible.

I would doubt someone like Yong Yong would call it "Gorilla 3" unless it was whoever that made the multicart that decided to give it the name. (Usually Yong Yong would actually give it the original name or something) From the sounds of the description though, it doesn't sound like a hack of Donkey Kong Land III.

I assumed it would be the multicart makers who gave it that name. I wonder if the cartridge shows this game on the cover? Maybe it has artwork?

is there any chance he could take screenshots or a video or something?[/quote]He told me he cannot provide a video of the game but I've asked if he can provide snapshots of its gameplay. Also, the multicart he has is for the Gameboy, not NES in case any of you are wondering.

EDIT: Just now, he has given me some screenshots of the game along with plenty of info about it. You can see it here but, the screenshots are very blurry as he had to scan them, since he doesn't have a data transfer cable.

I just found a copy of Gorilla 3 on eBay. I purchased the game, and I will make a review of the game when I receive it. From what I know, it's another Kiddy Kong game made by Makon Soft(Otherwise known as Yong Yong) The actual game on the cartridge is called Super Donkey Kong 3.
