Master Fighter II with invincibility hack
« on: August 27, 2017, 05:29:39 AM »
The wiki page states that Master Fighter II also has the invincibility cheat. None of the GoodNES 3.23b versions seem to have it. What is the CRC32 of the Master Fighter II version with the invincibility cheat?

Also, the cheat is described as "Left, Left, B, B, A, Left", but it seems to be "Left Left B A A Left". One can watch memory $6C5 in FCEUX' hex editor to see how many buttons one has pressed correctly.

Correct for the code, seems like it was wrong on the net. But sadly I just sold this copy of MFII. I'll ask the buyer if it works since I don't remember using it at all.

what did the front label look like on that cart? afaik with Street Fighter II it's only the versions with "NEW SUPER FIGHTER" printed on the label that have the cheat

edit: actually if it was this one http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/File:MF2.jpg the red sticker says "invincible" so it should have it.
maybe this version isn't dumped?

I have made a commented list of all ROM images of this game that I have, to sort out the various dumps out there.

Note that most GoodNES sets have some of the images set to wrong mapper numbers; my list shows the correct mapper numbers.

so in that case I guess we can be reasonably sure that the 'invincibility' version of Master Fighter II (assuming the cart sticker is correct and such a version exists) isn't dumped..

Hey, NewRisingSun2, it seems that the codes B, A, A, A, Left, Right, Start (Zangief Ending), and  B, A, A, A, Down, Down, Start (Zangief vs. Vega) work in practically all versions too.  For this version "Street Fighter II - The World Warrior (Unl) [!]" (the oddball) if RAM address $6C6 = non-zero then invincibility mode is enabled.

Zangief ending code data string:  408080800201
Zangief vs Vega code data string:  408080800404
Invincibility code data string:  020240808002

Basically if the ROM has the data string "020240808002" then you can almost rest assured that it has the Invincibility code.

I did not see any other title screen button-press data strings of interest in most of the other versions of this game...
