Is it possible that those Pokémon platformers...
« on: January 06, 2017, 10:02:55 AM »
...are unofficial "sequels" to Pocket Monsters I and II? I don't think they were made by the same company (I think Yong Yong/Makon made them, while DVS did the SNES/Gen games), but they have the same sprites, enemies and gameplay style. The level layout is similar, too.

I mean the platformers called something along these lines:

Pokémon Ruby (in this game, Pikachu is red)
Pokémon Sapphire (like Ruby, but he's blue here)
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back (very loosely based of said movie)
I believe there was a Diamond, a Pearl and a Jade one.

And I think there is also a Digimon game like this, too.

Mewtwo Strikes Back was sort of a port of Pocket Monsters 1, I think that's as far as the connection goes. The rest were just lazy modifications on that same engine (I think they just reordered the levels and recoloured Pikachu, but I haven't played much of those games because they are terrible)
