Unused levels in Panda Prince
« on: August 08, 2010, 07:11:16 PM »
Panda Prince is a crappy game but there's some strange things behind it... I was looking around on CaH4e3's cheat list until I noticed Panda Prince. There's a level selection if you press Start. Ok cool but wait...

Do those levels look familiar to you? They are the same ones in Super Lion King 2. (Although Super Lion King 2 still comes last)

Another level doesn't appear in both games!:

Underwater level with a different palette and design but uses the same enemies. The music is sped up though.

Oh, who remembers that wasp at that intro? Who was kinda upset that you fought a bird with a mustache instead? Look what I found:

Yes, there's barrels that spawn in the middle you can throw. (You can't jump on him). Beating him though takes you to a glitched title screen where you can't even move though and the music stops shortly. In SLK2, the wasp's invincibility time lasts forever though after the first hit.

This was something interesting that I just happened to find really. I wonder why the levels never made it though seeing they all work fine. (with the exception of beating the wasp but it's probably just an invalid pointer) In order to do it, you have to go in the hidden bonus room. (3 crates, not the ostrich/frog part) Press Start and use Up or Down to select the levels (Start to enter the level). Press Select to get to the bonus (ostrich/frog) or bosses but you have to use A or B to choose.

ooh. I wonder if the Lion King 2 levels were originally intended for "Panda Prince 2" (the alternate title in the rom). maybe LK2 was originally supposed to be PP2 but they turned it into a Lion King game at the last minute.

oh and the wasp boss actually appears in the "Jungle Adventure" hack (on the Vangard GameCore/D-Cat 8 handheld).. I was wondering where the hackers got that from. I havent beaten it though, because it's glitchy as hell and I've only managed to reach the wasp once without it crashing.

That could be, Super Lion King 2 does use the "2" from Panda Prince 2 and they probably figured it would sell more if it was a Lion King game.

Some passwords:
FL3B
H6IK
Y27H

When you beat the boss, the game switch to chinese mode.

I know there's a Game Genie code that changes the story into Chinese and changes the title screen.

Code was: AANGAIPA

It only happens with Y27H... Maybe it was for some testing. Also did anyone notice the 2 chines characters on the password screen when you beat an hidden level ?

Yeah, I noticed it. What is up with that? Does it simply stand for "PASSWORD" or something?

I don't know. Is it present on LK2 ? (I'm not able to get it running and I don't have a PC to run FCEUMM)

Eh, you need the cheat code for the Chinese version on to see. (And it's not just the hidden levels with it on)

I know there's a Game Genie code that changes the story into Chinese and changes the title screen.

Code was: AANGAIPA[/quote]Oh, that's interesting. The altered title screen has the NT logo instead of the K one.

Edit: Not that this was big news or anything, since one of the hidden copyright screens also had NT's logo. Still curious that the two versions are credited to different companies, though!
