Arabic Bootleg Video Game Websites
« on: August 29, 2014, 09:04:59 AM »
In Arabic and some African countries, bootleg/hacked games are very common. A lot of these games are sold at local markets, but there a handful of Arabic websites that exist that are selling these games online. These websites are filled with goofy, and often hilarious bootlegs, mainly involving Grand Theft Auto.

This is a link to Syrian Games, which is probably the most famous of these sites:
http://games-sy.com

*Note 1: This website tends to go down often
*Note 2: The best bootleg games are under their PS2 section

Here's another similar website I found similar to Syrian Games.com:
http://www.alrawabi-ye.com/new/index.php/features

There was another website called "land-game.com," but it permanently went down a few days after I found it.

Another defunct website is "syrian-ps2.com," however if you search it on google images a lot of their covers still show up.

Anyway, thought this would be a good forum to show these sites off, feel free to post similar websites and any funny/weird bootleg covers you find on these sites.

I think the more important question here is:
Can we actually buy these? These look awesome as hell! I don't trust the site (I'm talking about www.games-sy.com) but all of their games are just 1 buck. That worries me a bit. Has anyone gotten a game from them that doesn't live in the middle east? Because if it is safe to buy I am so getting the mod with UFO Grendiezer.

People here who are familiar with Vinesauce might remember that Joel/Exinthevatican did a stream where he played two GTA San Andreas bootlegs of Indonesian origin based on Dragonball and Wolverine. The guy who provided him the bootlegs, x8BitRain, posted download links to .iso images of the two bootlegs:
Dragonball: https://mega.nz/#!iokGlRTZ!WmIjSbuvoOF4TSlf8oKZFC8DrqurZ0ywgVcXBn3Q0gU
Wolverine: https://mega.nz/#!b8lmFBzT!zPpweTqgrPX1t2t-fTZnRmbsCbE4a_s03csnfH9gwj4

Judging by the listings on the Syrian Games website, I suspect a lot of these follow the same formula of GTA:SA with a couple of modpacks added and loading screens changed.

I tried buying games from Syrian Games' website. I keep making accounts and it tells me that I can start buying once they approve my account, but they never do.

The games are pretty cheap and I just wanted some for S&G.

Darn, the Syrian Games website has been replaced with a spammy-looking Wordpress blog. I was looking forward to actually buying some of these >:(

The Geomatrix Games link upthread looks promising though... I wonder if those guys will ship out of Brazil or wherever they are based

Where are you seeing the wordpress thing to Syrian? Going to www.syriangames.com just goes to their Facebook page now.

Their other domain games-sy.com is the one that's just a wordpress blog now. Used to be their online storefront.

I actually messaged their FB page about it, though I doubt they'll respond.
