I was looking around on Amazon just and came across 16-Bit Plug N Play unit (which is funny because the games definitely look 8-bit). Can't say I've ever seen the games on it though. One of them almost looks like Batman on the NES and another one happens to share its name with one of those awful Inventor hacks. (Risker, that is). What I find funny is that Amazon calls it a 36-in-1, even though it actually says 6-in-1 on the controller.

Oh, and the graphics in Risker look like they were ported from Sonic the Hedgehog.

my first thought was Jungletac, they have an 8-bit game called Risker. but i've never played it and im too lazy to look for a video at the moment, so i'm not sure if its related to the one on that console at all. but Decapitation Strike(?) seems to have the console's button layout on its title screen, so maybe they were developed specifically for it?
well I googled the game names, came up with this from Eittek:
http://www.eittek.com/Games/802_en.htm
the screenshots are clearer there, it does actually look 16 bit. Eittek list it as being 36 in 1 as well, but lots of the games sound like repeats. so maybe there are 36 "games" but 6 real games? still no idea who developed them though.

it is cheap though, i'm slightly tempted to buy one. but i'm getting some stuff from china and i'm fully expecting to be hit with an extortionate shipping bill so i don't want to be spending too much on random crap i'm somewhat curious about.

Well looking at those screenshots, the graphics for the game in the top left (Risker, I think) look like they were copied from The Flintstones for the Mega Drive, the game below it sort of looks like Adventure Island and the one on the bottom right looks like Bomberman for the Playstation. (Or maybe one of the SNES games, although admittedly I haven't got around to playing those)

I like how the menu looks just like the one that some of the Wii clones use.

Also, "87 IИ 1"?

Don't know if this belongs here, but I recently bought a portable music/video player which is also able to play Famicom, Sega Genesis, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games. Brand is generic, "Portable 311 player", but I was wondering how they emulate the games, since it's obvious no real NES/Genesis/GBA hardware is included. Is any kind of information about how these things emulate games on the internet? Specially considering how many NES games have problems: Burgertime kicks me to the game selection screen after losing one life, Zombie Nation doesn't works, Antartic Adventure has corrupted graphics, The Goonies doesn't starts at all, etc.
Also, the selection of built-in games is questionable: it includes Japanese Dragon quest games which are... in Japanese... and it also has such shit like "Baseball" and "Mario is missing", but the games can be easily changed using the included USB cable.

Its probably an open source emulator ported (badly) to whatever hardware it uses, I think thats usually how these things work. I know thats what the included emulators with the Dingoo A320 were.

Another thing: these things can play games made specially for them. Mine came with two: "Deep treasures" (a terrible undersea action game whit the most lousy collision detection I have seen in a long time, and of course lots of Engrish) and "Bumper Cars" (terrible game which is impossible to maneuver) By googling I found this: http://pspkox.wikia.com/wiki/Game_for_PSP_SPMP8000_Und_RMVB_MP_8000 where there are downloads of games for these machines. I wonder, however, who made them? There's no copyright on these games.

EDIT: I just downloaded "Burning Tetris" and it has a copyright saying "(c)2007 Sunmedia Co.". This seems to be their website: http://www.sunmediagames.com/en/

I randomly found this plug 'n play device yesterday which as far as I can tell is a Commodore 64 emulator with a menu that runs on Famicom technology. Either that or the games were ported to the Famicom, but having never played a C64 I'm not really sure.

What's odd is that with the menu, the background is stolen from Fist of the North Star for the NES and the music is the same horrible tune that this thing used, which sounds like a bad rendition of Jigsaw from Action 52. (I'm pretty sure it's based off something else, but I like to think that these pirates were that stupid) What's also odd is that the instructions are in French for some reason. I'm guessing it was also released in other languages, but I'm not entirely sure.

i'd guess they were famicom ports - heres a screenshot from one of the C64 versions: http://www.gamefaqs.com/c64/573813-hunter/images/screen-2
the version on that console looks less pixelated to me, although maybe thats just the video quality. but its definitely running at a lower resolution than the original, since it can't fit the whole HUD on-screen at once. Shoot the Goof doesnt seem to have been released for the C64 at all though.

this guy worked at both Colosoftwares & Oniros so I guess he's responsible for the games, and he's Belgian which would explain the instructions being in French. I'm not sure how a random Belgian developer ends up porting a bunch of his old C64 games to the Famicom for a Chinese company though.

edit: some more of the C64 versions, theyre even more obviously different to the ones on this thing -

Yeah, same goes for Race 'n Burn. the only reference I can find to that one is this page about presumably the same console:
http://obsoletetears.free.fr/jeu.php3?Marque=&Machine=Game%20Start
which calls it the "Game Start".
