I haven't had a chance to actually sit down and play this yet, and I really didn't play the Harry Potter game that much. Has anything else been changed beyond the character sprite?

The music and win images are different, but otherwise it's the same (they even kept the same enemies in.)  About as much as you'd expect of it.

Enjoying that Puzzle Bobble voice and the music each consisting entirely of a PCM sample while the pitch temporarily decreases when another PCM sample is playing. It seems similar to Pokémon Crazy Drummer in the sound department. So far I recognize the music from Cool Spot and CPS-1 Street Fighter II.
