Please DO read what I have to say. It may not be much, but it's certainly necessary to understand this thing's story.

Omega Brazil '97

What we have here is a hack of Top Gear 2. I haven't played it much but from what I saw, it's basically a "intro" and title screen and car hack. Let's take a look at those.

Top Gear 2 only has one screen before the menu. This one:

While on Omega Brazil '97 we have two screens. The first screen's text is crap and the car is clearly a badly stretched version of the car from the second picture, but the second one's text is a bit better.

Let's look at the big difference in gameplay there is.

TOP GEAR 2:

OMEGA BRAZIL '97:

Almost none. The only real difference is the car.

But Ivan, if it's just a dumb hack, why are you posting it???

It was commercially sold here in Brazil and possibly in the rest of South America. Want proof? (These are NOT my photos.)

Hey people with OCD, look at the label's placement! :P

All right, let's get back on track, because we're very near the final train stop. Here comes the weird part of all of this: I do not have this cartridge. I don't know anyone in real life who has this cartridge. I've never seen this cartridge in real life. Then how could I have dumped it? Simple. I didn't. Now, now, before you all come here wanting to kill me, let me explain.

I am VERY interested in the Mortal Kombat 2000 cartridge. I went on a famous gaming forum from Brazil called OuterSpace, or rather, it's subdivision RetroSpace and there I found someone who had MK2000. I PM'd the person (Tilipe) asking if he could record a video of said game. After browsing a bit on the forum, I found out he had dumped the Omega Brazil 97 ROM, and proceeded to ask him if I could have it. Guess what. I didn't get a video or ROM of MK2000, but at least...

Ivan, do you have any clue why Tilipe didn't release it?

He's a busy person and didn't have time to do so. He did thank me for releasing the ROM, which proves my other theory that he was afraid people would make fake carts is incorrect.

Anyway, for your delectation, here is the ROM.

The photos are working fine. It's probably a problem on your end. Are ALL pictures screwed up?

EDIT: Kage, I owe you one thousand and one SUPER apologies. The images were, indeed, broken. They are fixed now.

i like how they tried to apply a japan/euro-size to a US-style cart even though it doesnt fit at all. i mean they could have just taken a pair of scissors and snipped off the end of the car but nope, lets just slap it on there.

(i guess this probably means the PCB/label/box were shipped from Asia and then assembled in a cart shell either produced locally in Brazil or imported separately, similarly to the way a lot of famicom pirates were/are sold)

File should open fine on ZSNES. Unfortunately, as of now, Higan is unable to import the file.
