Happy 30th Anniversary, NES!
« on: July 15, 2013, 03:24:56 AM »
On July 15th thirty years ago, the Nintendo Entertainment System was first released in Japan and has became one of the most popular consoles during the 8-bit era, and is still a favourite to many people (especially for those pirates also). So, discuss of how awesome the NES was :D

Funnily enough, I would've expected a Google Doodle for this day but, nope.

Happy Birthday! Now explain why we don't celebrate the birth of the Magnavox Odyssey?

It's not nearly gnarly enough to be celebrated.  Anyway, thanks for all the years of awesome (and not-so-awesome) games NES!

Yes, what Shazam said. For the not-so-awesome games of the system, you can blame LJN and Active Enterprises for that :P

EDIT: Can you believe that I never had an NES in my childhood, where this was active in most people's? I didn't get one until Christmas 2001 but it was in the form of a Famiclone known as the Power Joy II. Then came the squashed in NES games for the 108-in-1 GBA cartridge I had. Oh, the memories.
