Famicom/NES / Re: miscellaNEouS files
« Last post by forgotusername on October 18, 2025, 03:50:03 PM »
Here is a decoded copy of the recently dumped "Danz Kara" plug & play by Game Star, alongside extracts of some of its games. The decoding process was relatively simple for the console itself; though some of the "educational computer"-based software contains further encryption (alongside strange compression [?] for two games' CHR data), so I was not able to extract every single game.

This console is a bizarre mishmash of various developers' games, to a level where I can barely even comprehend where some of its contents were sourced from. Of particular note is that two games, Runner and Mole, are originally-developed games by Inventor, which have not surfaced on any other console. The copyright notices were removed in both, so I have included guesswork restorations below. Oddly, the Runner notice was covered up by coding in a row of blank tiles to mask the original notice; so I just zeroed-out that code to display the Inventor credit. Due to the aforementioned CHR issue, Runner has been given an 8K CHR file; I am unsure if this is the intended code structure, but it seems to run fine.

Note that the Smart Millionaire game has a tendency to crash on certain questions; the MAME team states that this is just how the game plays (great quality control), and is not an emulation/dumping issue.

Pirated Work / 3-in-1: Kart ViiN, Crash Bash 6, Little Einstein
« Last post by SuperScud69DS on October 13, 2025, 05:47:42 PM »

A 3-in-1 multicart this time, including only self-made ROM Hacks.

The cart includes:

== LIST ==

01. Kart ViiN (Zippy Race hack)

It's Zippy Race... But it's Mario Kart! You race as Mario instead of a bike and the cars have been replaced with Goombas on a kart.

02. Crash Bash 6 (Mappy Hack)

This hack of Mappy features Crash Bandicoot as the main character. Despite the name, it has nothing to do with Crash Bash for the PlayStation. Some graphics are from Mario Bros, Bomberman, Lode Runner, The Adventures of Dino Riki, and Nuts & Milk. And also the Grem sprites from Samurai Iroha were reused in this hack.

03. Little Einstein (Lode Runner Hack)

So remeber that educational cartoon that aired on Playhouse Disney back in the mid-2000's? It's on the NES now, and it's a Lode Runner hack! In this hack you play as Leo from the cartoon itself, and various graphics and palettes were changed. The enemies sprites were taken from Kirby's Adventures.

== END OF THE LIST ==

All the hacks in this multicart uses Streets of Rage 2 font as the main font, except on the menu.

Game Boy dumps / Re: Tabor's Dumps

This is an RPG called(?) Final Fantasy: Unlimited Saga. There's already a dump available on the Internet Archive but I thought I'd do my own since I wanted my own copy anyhow. I did compare them and they aren't exactly the same. What has changed? As usual, no idea. The wiki does mention Sintax listing an English copy on their website so it *possibly* exists, but as far as I know nothing has turned up yet sadly. Thankfully the Chinese characters are all big and clear, making it easier to translate using a phone.

I do plan on playing this as it doesn't seem that bad so far. One random thing I did note is that despite being a Sintax release, there is no intro logo at all, it just boots straight into the opening scene (which you can't skip by the way :l).

Developer: ???
Publisher: Sintax

Zui Zhong Huan Xiang: Wu Jin Sha Jia (最终幻想-無盡沙加)

The English version (Crystal Age) also had a listing on one of Sintax's Alibaba pages, meaning they did attempt to sell it at one point. As for the common dump of this game, my understanding is that is an early build that got leaked. Sky League had access to someone at Sintax who shared a few protos. This, to my knowledge, is the first time the final version has been dumped

Edit: And it was developed in-house. Could've started development under BBD I guess, but Sintax bought them out, so the distinction between the two isn't that important

Well, when I bought this I was curious about the language option. Indeed, you are able to switch between Chinese and English before starting the game. As I was watching the beginning scene, I thought "wow, this is pretty well animated and done!", only for the game to mention "Daikatana". Yep, it's a Chinese translation hack of Daikatana for the Gameboy Color.

Pirate Talk / Re: JungleTac and the V.Smile
« Last post by APM on October 10, 2025, 04:58:48 PM »
Unearthed the LinkedIn profile of someone who did software development at VTech's Shenzhen branch that I found a while ago and considered of interest in relation to the V.Smile: https://cn.linkedin.com/in/%E5%B3%B0-%E5%91%A8-79a216119. Note that the link might not work for everyone due to LinkedIn shenanigans forcing people to register for an account for unfettered access to the website (especially if viewing pages on the site more than once without an account). From the VTech section of the LinkedIn profile:

Quote

TV Game(2D/3D) Develop
Language: C/C++
Complier: VC.net, GCC, Sunplus IDE
MCU: LSI ZEVIO (ARM9), Sunplus SPG200 (16 bit MCU)
Resposibility:
* Software module devide, Common Module design/coding/debug
* Schedule follow up, Design Review, Code Review
* New comer training

Not only does the profile mention this person developing for the Sunplus SPG200, which was used in the V.Smile (the only real 2D video game device VTech released next to a Dora plug and play using similar Sunplus SPG technology to my knowledge), but it also lists the "LSI ZEVIO" alongside it, which is only known to have been used by VTech for their V.Flash console. The listing doesn't provide enough information to make it clear if the person directly worked on the V.Smile games, but given the provided time frame and mentioned responsibilities (notably the "New comer training" bullet point), I think it's safe to assume that they at least had a hand in the development process of V.Smile games directly at VTech and that by extension, VTech had some involvement with the software development side of the V.Smile and its games (at the very least, common software libraries shared among the games). Still no updates on anything further cementing JungleTac's involvement with the system, though.

Pirated Work / [3D MODEL DOWNLOAD] Viin Play System Portable
« Last post by SuperScud69DS on October 05, 2025, 06:48:51 PM »
I made a 3d model mockup for a famiclone called the "Viin Play System Portable". It's a portable version of his home console counterpart, the FunGamer Viin, a Wii knockoff famiclone. The design of this console is kinda of a portable Nintendo Wii, except since this is a famiclone, of course it plays NES and Famicom games. It even comes with a cartridge slot for your Famicom games!

This console has:

- A screen
- Dpad and the action buttons: 1 & 2 are just NES A & B, while a and b are the tubo A & B.
- Start (+), Select (-), and Reset buttons
- A volume slider
- Famicom cartridge slot
- USB C charging port
- AV input port for the TV
