« on: February 13, 2011, 11:00:07 AM »
So after giving some random cheat code KingPepe to make some stupid stuff (Who turned off the light in Somari ?), he decided to investigate in Harry's Legend and evetually foudn the value that was the value which was used to summon an enemy. We decided to do all values from 00 to FF, we stopped when the game was starting to freeze over and over.

The adress is: 0601
We used FCEUX.

Here's a list for all value with some extra comments added to them.

54 - weird stuff using X/Y axes, freeze 2s after.

Pirate Talk / FS: Popeye 2 JY-031
« on: February 03, 2011, 02:20:56 AM »
Up for sale is a copy of Popeye 2, a Famicom pirate made in 1995 using Aladdin port. The port is well made and the game is good (unlike some other pirates with strange physics and bad graphics). This game is rare, you won't see many other copies.

Cartridge condition:
label is damaged
pins are clean.
Case is in good condition.
The board has 2 EPROMs (protected with tape) and one globtop for mapper, it isn't a cheap pirate.

Picture of the cartridge:

Pirated Work / Project: emailing C&E
« on: January 19, 2011, 03:23:34 PM »
So recently I heard of a team making homebrew games for bunch of consoles. And that team (named: Super Fighter Team) got rights on bunch of C&E stuff. in 2001. I know it's a long time but it seems C&E could still be active. So my hopes are: contacting the Super Fighter Team and ask them for the email of C&E (email must be polite as hell to get more hopes). If they give it to us, we should be able to contact them and ask them bunch of questions. I know it sounds stupid but it could work. The things we need:

people writing a very polite email asking SFT team to give us C&E email (if they still have one) and explain why we ask for it.
If the result is good then we just need someone that write in Chinese (Did I write Barver here ?) and translate questions and why we asks them.
Hope to get an answer from them.

What we could learn if it works:
Names of developpers, games made and unreleased ones, maybe they still have some stock left so we could buy it/buy protos (I'm crazy, yes but everything can happen), Hummer Team ?, conditions of work (good, bad, earn lot of money, poor, things like that).
So what I'm asking you is could you help me writing that email for Super Fighter Team. Engrish isn't the best way to ask for stuff... Also Barver would you agree to translate the questions if we get C&E email ?

1993-1999 / More JY related stuff
« on: January 10, 2011, 05:14:44 PM »
Little update about JY/Hummer:

PCBs:
After talking with J.H. about what those PCB codes were for:
We think the date (Thanks Taizou !) in the PCB code (JY-001: YY840709) would stand for manufacture date (the last 2 digits are random).
The other date that was always 2 years more than the game would be the warranty limit. So JY was manufacturing game quickly (considering Aladdin board is from from March 1995). Now the game that make no sense is King Rabbit by NT.

JY was present before 1993 !
So J.H. opened many carts he had, he ended up sawing bunch with JY written on chips and most of them having similar pcb code. I conclusion all these were released by JY: Mario & Sonik 2, Mario 6, Mario 8, Street Fighter III Turbo 56 People (They could have released all other SF3 variation).
In conclusion they probably appeared sometimes in early 1992 or 1991.

SC:
These are all known SC carts to exist (JY transition name):
SC-112: rerelease of the JY multicart under SC id.
SC-120 (A): 45in1
SC-126: HIK Block 14 in 1
SC127: Wario Land II (original release ?)
SC-128: 25in1
SC-129: 15in1
SC-131: multi
SC01: 8in1
SC02: multi
SC03: multi
SC-001: multi (not related to JY-001)

There's probably more.

Why did JY changed and became generic ?
Story: JY isn't a manufacturer but probably a trading company. This would explain why Super Donkey Kong do not have a JY code but still has a similar PCB code (same unknown manufacturer). and why a multicart from 97 with MMC3 Aladdin on it was released also with a similar pcb but without JY code (duh). The menu, strangely use Somari font but I was told it is hidden in Aladdin so it was probably taken from the CHR.
So the unknown manufacturer stopped activities and JY decided to move to China (no more supporting Hummer Team). Later JY cartridges are known to exist only in  South Korea. but as it is expensive to manufacture stuff in S.N. they probably chose China then they would send carts. Selling cheap carts with usually the same games. (Mainly: KOF97 to 99, Shin Chan 2, Sonic The Hedgehog and simple MMC games). In 2003 they printed 130 in 1 which would have been their last cartridge (this one released in Taiwan). (China proof: JY-617 10 in 1: XB-A011215B - JY-617 - 104x4 - U1 - S0 - S1 - S2 - MADE IN CHINA). In 2008 the same manufacturer would have reused the same games as JY (the company would have kept the files) to make some multi using SX0Y (X = letter between A and D, Y = number between 1 and 4). These being very cheap and using the same menu engine as the other recent JY carts.

Dating exactly Garou Densetsu and AVBGF:
On Somari's chip there's 9401 which would suggest January 1994. Next is AvBGF but it seems that one has no date on board. And box says 1995. But the box was only seen on japanese auction site (written on it: MADE IN JAPAN) (never on any taiwanese website). So was the game released then in early/middle 1994 and Garou would have followed ? Then in June they were already working in JY (see under).
Or
Hummer Team probably wanted to join JY. JY asked them to make 2 games (MK2, DBZ2). Probably to evaluate if they were interesting enough people to employ. MK3Turbo (JY-011) was produced during June 1994. and DBZ2 was made during August of the same year. But they still needed to complete with Ge De and make 2 games. They made AVBGF and Garou and then they would have left completly Ge De.

BootlegGames Wiki / Lazy articles/links to Virtual NES
« on: November 30, 2010, 02:29:26 PM »
So recently someone (unregistered) has started to add those Virtual NES links with all games that can be played on VirtualNES. I don't think putting the links on the Wiki is a good idea. First, it makes publicity for VirtualNES, 2nd: Even if the company is dead, by respect we shouldn't do that (like all officials NES Roms that has been programmed by a company that is both dead or still in the business).
3rd: VirtualNES is just bad.

Also check the Dragon article, the author just went lazy and put a link to Taizou's site. This wiki isn't here to link to all sites over the place, there must be original text too and nothing (or only few) should be copy pasted from another site.

1993-1999 / Master Fighter VI'
« on: October 27, 2010, 03:05:18 PM »
So I finally got Master Fighter VI'.

First of all, here's HQ picture of the cartridge:
http://s2.noelshack.com/uploads/images/19083417227424_100_2988.jpg
The line at bottom of the label is the plastic protection that is going to be removed by itself.

Board:

(date on the right)
http://s2.noelshack.com/uploads/images/21428511444549_100_2985.jpg

Video of the last fights:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-nPjNioj0w
Carlock is the clone of Balrog

Figured few special attacks:
Vega (or Houbot) has the same special attack as Stalong except that the back + B is replaced by down + b which is also a cheap attack. He has one more attack which can be ececuted by B, F, b which is similar to B, F, a.

It seems Ryu use the same special attacks as SF2 with the same buttons.
The guy with the power of elasticity has the exact same commands of attacks as Vega.

NOT RELATED:

HQ picture of 15in1:

It seems Ge De Industry was buying chips for their game at different companies, I've got a second SF4 copy and this one doesn't have EPROM but PROM with a SL-01A/SL-01B code on the 2 chips. Board is similar through.
(SL code is also used on AVbgf !)

Famicom/NES / Jack YEH stuff
« on: October 17, 2010, 03:08:09 PM »
So I've been discussing about him with KingPepe and we made a what could have happened to that guy.

So first of all, he was probably working for Sachen, YEH appear 2 times. Once as Marico YEH and the second time as Jack YEH. A bit after in 1991 he is credited in Magic Bubble as Jack Yeh.
In SF2, there's a third programmer which is named "Gordon JAK". Is it the same Jack ? Maybe.
The background of MF6 (Yoko) has been reused in SF3. Also some people have noticed that some SF3 stuff is similar to the some Cony graphics (as seen on the forum). there's also a YEH credited in almost all Cony games (mainly David YEH). And one Cony game has the exact same label as MF6. It's not a bad picture, the colors match the original one and the YOKO-Y1 has been replaced by 60. The original picture is still behind the 60. Nothing was used to hide YOKO-Y1. Which means they had the original artworks. Also the color of Master FIghter VI' text has been modified to orange but the design still match up perfectly with the other one.
I think Jack Yeh left Someri Team when they were done with Master Fighter VI' and took some actual graphical stuff that he could reuse. Then he would have made SF3 and World Hero. Then he created/joined Cony Soft.

That is the only explanation I've found to explain the similarities with Cony/Yoko/YEH

Game Boy / J.Y. Company in Game Boy business ?
« on: September 29, 2010, 02:21:38 PM »
Check this picture:

At first you may not notice anything.
Look at that PCB code on middle right starting with 82. Doesn't it remind you of something ? No ?
JY always used 8XXXXC codes for Famicom cartridges. This one is 820424-C1. The thing that make me do the comparison is that the Famicom codes uses the same way to number PCBs. For exemple: JY-001 1994 has a 830429C PCB.
So J.Y. was probably in the GB business before 1994...

Pirate Talk / Pirate collection
« on: September 22, 2010, 03:04:52 PM »
So one of my friend is selling his whole pirate collection (1015 working cartridges), the deal is almost done but I'm not the guy who is going to get these, I've been trying to deal with my friend to get few, here's what I'm trying to get: Fun Fun Club games: (Street Hero and Super Pang (unknown ?)) and a NT-707 (1996 3 in 1) cartridge. I need to money to buy these (and dump them), a cartridge cost 20 USD, I wanted to know if you guys could help me get these. You will get the dump as a reward. (and maybe the money if I can ^_^ )
Notes: I'm trying to get these since the deal already started with the stranger. I'll tell you if it fails with me.

The link under is a zip which include 4 zip which separate each pictures (of the 1015 carts). I found some pretty strange labels in these pictures. All pics are high quality with high resolution.
If the deal fails with the swedish guy, I'll ask if he can sell the games separately or just like a deal of 20 at least.

EDIT: The deal didn't failed but he ended up buying only few carts. It may be possible to sell games separately. Unfortunalely Street Hero by Fun Fun club is sold. I can still get Super Pang (Fun Fun too !) for 20. More infos later.

1984-1992 / Jing Ke Xin Zhuan NSF investigation
« on: September 18, 2010, 09:56:50 AM »
Just to prove that SuperTone = Yoko/Someri Team:
So in order:

Track #1:
Use the same noise notes as SF2 ending

Track #2:
remind me of something but I can't remember.

Track #3 to #5
nothing to say

Track #6
Guess what ? This track use the same triangle as track #8 in Mortal Kombat 4. Which proves that Hummer or at least few HT members made that one.

Track #7
In this one, after a while you can hearsome notes that are similar as the one in the ending theme of SFIV (channel 2)

track #8-#9
nothing to say

track #10
Sugico theme without channel 2.

track #11
nothing to say. The same notes as the SFIV ending (channel 2) are used.

track #12
Channel 1 use the same style of music as the first AV Jiu Ji Mahjong 2

track #13
This is the boss battle music, it is present in SF2 NSF (unused) and Kart Fighter.

track #14
nothing noticed

track #15
Seems to be a early version of the SF2 ending noise (#4 channel).

track #16
use the SF2 battle ending sound then some strange notes

track #17-#18
nothing noticed

2000-present / 15in1 investigation
« on: August 24, 2010, 12:07:35 PM »
I finally go the parcel from Barver (Thanks a lot !) with that 15in1. So first when you put the cartridge this is what you see:
http://img801.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot.jpg/
If you press select:
http://img507.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot1g.jpg/

The Legend (Street Fighter IV):
http://img375.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot2.jpg/
http://img651.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot3.jpg/
Note that voice samples are different and there's a "ready" for one secons before fight start. Aslo on the VS screen, the character stop before the middle of the screen.
Also note that the game is less hard and you loose less energy when you get it by a special move.

The Hummer:
http://img299.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot4.jpg/
http://img830.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot5.jpg/
http://img835.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot6.jpg/
Note: the act text flashes when you start a level. I'm not able to access to CaH4e3 site, could someone give me the level select code to see if it works ?

Pink Jelly:
http://img267.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot7s.jpg/
http://img830.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot8.jpg/
Note: Panda adventure with some minor differences. When you arrive at the end of the screen, there's an altered DKC4 win music that plays with a black screen.

War:
http://img834.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot9h.jpg/
http://img843.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot10.jpg/
http://img841.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot11p.jpg/
You are the military on bottom of screen and you must kill these stranges guys to end a level. Sometimes, items appear. YOu can grab them pressing B + down
Note: Reuse ALL altered music of DKC4 present in EWJ3 NSF !!! Reuse DKC4 and EWJ3 graphics. Reuse the funky EWJ3 music when invincibility.

Hacker (Jack):
http://img294.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot12.jpg/
http://img227.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot13.jpg/
http://img90.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot14.jpg/
It's Harry's Legend but levels are mixed up and some enemies are different (like the old woman (HL) has a gun) (in picture !).

When you hit 2 times an enemy (fast), the 3rd attack will be a kick instead of a punch. The enemies are different, there's for exemple a cooker and a maid-servent.

Heroine (Rose):
http://img155.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot15.jpg/
http://img828.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot16.jpg/
http://img541.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot17.jpg/
http://img835.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot18.jpg/ EPIC FREEZE

The chicken at the begining is crazy. It moves very fast. Also note that there are NO WAYS to kill mouse because Rose do not have a low kick attack and the punch do not affect them (even duck + punch).
Also the game freeze when you die in water...

The Duck:
GUESS WHAT ? It uses the hidden DKC4 music (#9 or #10 in NSF) !
http://img409.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot19.jpg/
http://img178.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot20.jpg/
http://img835.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot21.jpg/
When you end a level it plays DKC4 "when you die" music
Note that the title screen bottom part is scrolling (green/yellow).

The Egg:
http://img409.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot22.jpg/
http://img827.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot23d.jpg/
Nothing very different except that the birds lays eggs and you loose -50 points when they hit the ground. You get game over when you get less than 0 points.

BEACHHEAD:
http://img821.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot24.jpg/
Reuse Panda Adventure graphics with different colors. Different music

Jungle War:
http://img715.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot25.jpg/
...

Adventure:
http://img715.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot26.jpg/
Same :D

Gorge:
A select screen ! Will the game be different oO ?
http://img251.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot27.jpg/
http://img26.imageshack.us/i/eyetvsnapshot28.jpg/
No.

Peace Sea:
Reuse Panda graphics with funky colors like BeachHead (with character select)

Bridge:
Like Jungle War... (with character select)

Green Evil:
Like Adventure with character select

I'll do a video showing some games you chose. Please request them here.
I can provide more screenshot, ask me what you want ;)

Also the board has these numbers:
A4 - 6264 - PC5 - 0450 - 94V-0 - T411191
Also a chip: HD74LS20P - 3A26
