Wonderful Wide Web / Somari 3D Blast 5
« on: January 18, 2015, 08:40:35 PM »

I'm not involved with this project, but a group of users have released a demo of Somari/Sonic 3D Blast 5 remade in the Sonic Worlds engine.
It looks pretty neat so far, here's a video of it in action:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZboBhTqs_b0
There's a downloadable one-level demo; it essentially incorporates Somari + Sonic 3D Blast 5 into one game,
with Somari or Sonic selectable from the start.

That's pretty funny, in my opinion. Its almost as if whoever printed these didn't quite know what to put on the back, so they just happened to find your spritesheets while searching and put them on there without trimming off the credits. It baffles me how they either didn't notice or care. Also, what are those pamphlets next to the cartridges with the character sprites? (are they instructions?)

The Big Old Arcade / Your Favorite Game Soundtracks
« on: November 11, 2014, 12:47:30 AM »
Gimmick! has a pretty rad soundtrack, as do many other Sunsoft games of the NES era. It's probably my most favorite NES soundtrack. I also quite like the music of the Fantasy Zone series. Less specifically, a few amongst my favorite composers include artists such as Tim/Geoff Follin, Koji Kondo, Jake Kaufman, Manami Matsumae, and Jun Senoue; but there's just too many more to list..

By those "new" games, I assume you're referring to those originals (mostly platformers) and the half-baked NES ports? They are indeed pretty interesting, since they all seem to have been suddenly appearing, and share quite a chunk of assets. Also a bit late, but welcome to the site  (additionally, that's a neat Twinbee avatar).

Mega Drive/Genesis / Possibly found an undumped MD bootleg? (Rockheaven)
« on: October 12, 2014, 02:22:43 PM »
Those images were from an ebay listing. There used to be a gameplay video of the WaniWani World hack on YouTube, but it's been gone for a while unfortunately. As for RockHeaven, it's just a hack of Alex Kidd but with Megaman's Wily Wars sprites inserted, there was also some gameplay of this on the listing's page, but this is now also gone, sadly. I still have the additional gameplay screenshots form the listing, though.

The RockWorld screenshots will be in the next post. (15 image limit)

What emulator are you using on the NOOK HD? It depends on the emulator's level of compatibility with certain multicarts. If I'm not mistaken, NOOK HD runs Android, right?

Pirate Talk / Pirate ports you'd LOVE to see
« on: June 05, 2014, 07:03:18 PM »
I remember reading a page a while back where an MD Kirby Super Star was very briefly mentioned. If such a "port" were to exist, I wonder how badly messed up it would be, considering Super Donkey Kong '99 was missing basic gameplay features from the original (such as rolling). I suppose it does vary on the group coding the whole thing though, but I imagine Kirby would be a pain to code, with all the copy abilities and everything.

Other Pirates / Puyo Puyo English "Bootleg" for the arcades

This is really fascinating, I've definitely never heard of this before. Those are some pretty interesting differences indeed. Also, is it just me, or did the game seem to be lagging during the demo cutscene with the falling Puyos?

Famicom/NES / Super Shrek Bros and Scoring roms converted
« on: April 27, 2014, 01:12:28 AM »
A palette hack would be relatively simple for Super Mario Bros, but I'm not entirely sure about Arkanoid. Did the original rom work in any emulator at all though?

Funny enough, some of the English voice acting in this version reminds me of the acting in Kirby's avalanche.

I've always wondered about that strange translated version that has been floating around the internet. It's quite amusing, and I also find it pretty neat that they put in the extra effort to redo the voices as well.

Mega Drive/Genesis dumps / Tons of new MD hacks
« on: February 16, 2014, 06:26:21 PM »
I usually use WinRAR to extract files. However, most extractors should work. If the game has Russian characters in the filename, the emulator won't load it, so make sure to rename it in that case. Also make sure its running the game in megadrive mode (no mastersystem or 32x).  Other than that, I can't think of any reasons why it wouldn't work.

What emulator are you trying to use? KEGA usually works for me.

Mega Drive/Genesis / Spongebob hack of Cool Spot?
« on: February 09, 2014, 11:05:34 PM »
I've seen this site before. They have all these bizarre hacks of various Genesis games, I think it was linked somewhere on this forum before, but I can't find it anymore.. Most of them were just title hacks and minor sprite changes.

edit: It was linked in this thread: http://s4.zetaboards.com/PGC_Forums?topic=8999074/1/http://s4.zetaboards.com/PGC_Forums?topic=8999074/1/

Pirated Work / Stupid fake Bootleg Famicom carts I made.

The first two are hilarious! I wonder what Super officer worker would play like.. The third one (Batman) seems like it would be an actual cart.
