Super Famicom/SNES / Pajama Sam SNES game???
« on: February 07, 2015, 02:58:07 PM »
I need help identifying an SNES game, and I know it's unlicensed.
A few years ago, probably back in 2012, I had found this weird, but good game where you played as someone in pajamas. I searched for a pajama video game online, and I found "Pajama Sam", a character from a point-and-click series, so that might be who it was.
I played three levels of it.  In the first one, you were above a river and trying to avoid sharks. There were guitars that when collected, you played it and you were invincible, but at the first one, you were  on top of a hippo, and collecting it would cause you to fall into the water, because you moved around while playing it. Then you were chasing a man and a dog in a boat. The second level was in a cave, with bats that would cling onto you. In the second half of the level, you were in a mine cart, avoiding hitting the ceiling, making use of Mode 7 to rotate the screen, and then you were fighting the same man and dog in a train. The third level had you riding a bee, avoiding hummingbirds and parrots, until you were fighting the same man and dog in a helicopter, using Mode 7 again. I never figured out how to beat the boss, so I don't know what happened next.

What I also remembered about the game was that there were weird blank screens before levels. The game had really good music that sounded better than many other games. And when you died, the pajama guy would become an angel.

This was actually a pretty good game, even though it was weird. I lost all of my ROM files that weren't on the server about a year ago. Could you please identify it?

Famicom/NES / Street Fighter II on Famicom

I can't even remember where I picked this up. Car boot sale I think. Just thought it was worth sharing as I've never seen SF2 ported to Fami before.
Anyone know anything about it?

http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/oo159/Darxide_x64/SF2_zpsrpzsdxkd.jpg
I can't believe you haven't seen this game ported to the Famicom before! There's many of them, starting with the correctly-titled Street Fighter II: The World Warrior by Hummer Team. http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/Street_Fighter_II:_The_World_Warrior
It's hard to say which one it is, considering how many there are. Your best bet is to play the game and see what the title screen says.

I now know that the SNES version of Hercules 2 exists, because I watched a Spanish video of it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=vVgN4cBiqH0/
The music is based on the Megadrive version, and appears to be an original sound engine (a first?). But it sounds very poor compared to the Megadrive version. It's also worth noting that both games' music is from the PSX version (I've played it myself), but sometimes the music is incorrectly placed in the Megadrive version. I'll have to play it when it's dumped...

Mega Drive/Genesis / Super Mario World 64... is it worth playing?
« on: January 02, 2015, 07:42:02 PM »
It 's okay, but it's definitely not the greatest Megadrive game I've ever played. SMW for the NES is better.

Basically a bad attempt at porting Donkey Kong Country.
...again. Why did they do it if there's a much better remake by Nintendo/Rareware?

Otherwise, it works great! What's wrong with the NES games?

I have a Dingoo A320, which is good. I use the Dingoo Emulation Pack. (I don't use Dingux, I use Native OS). I also have a PSP, but no NES games that I put on NESterJ work. (Gray screen).

Mega Drive/Genesis dumps / Darkwing Duck (Unl) ROM

This...this is not very good. There's no stage selects or bosses, two stages are missing, and balloons and genies don't appear. (Genies are replaced with basketball guys) There also is a different introduction, title screen, ending, and most music, and not a "Job Well Done" screen.
Otherwise, it's good, though. Like Super Mario World 64, they seem to have got most of the basic gameplay and enemies down.

Quote : I think Somari's fine. :\ The music is pretty good IMO, but just some physics ruin it.

I strongly agree. If someone could modify the controls to be a lot better, it would be even better. Don't like the lazy Adventure Island Sonic hack, though. (of course) Why does he throw axes in the first place?

Game Boy / Leftovers in Zook Hero Z

Boy, someone should really remove the copy protection. Not easy, though. At least it's dumped! I never thought I'd see the awesome day...

56
Thanks for that! Now I know it's the original!

57
Thanks for that, but I'm still not sure if that's the one. I'll check.

I have been searching for the real, full Aladdin by Super Game, but all I can find is Super Aladdin (only has 4 levels, and Prince of
Persia pictures) and several revisions to look like and share mapper 115, like the full Aladdin. I have really wanted an Aladdin
that's the same as Aladdin II, only much better done.
Can anyone get a link to a ROM of it.....if it has been dumped yet?!   That's how I feel right now.

Pirate Talk / Can anyone come up with a pirate game editor?
« on: February 19, 2013, 03:27:24 PM »
Thanks. You are right, I went a bit too far about asking about an editor for all HT pirate platformers. I guess I'll think of one editor first, then another. The first will be either Somari/other hacks or SMW. Thanks for the EWJ3 editor! Now if someone just could make an EWJ1 editor sometime (not a work request for any of these members)...
I've been waiting a lot for an EWJ2 editor! Cool!
Oh, silly me, it IS an editor for EWJ1 too! And Aladdin, which I'm sure is because it's similar to Earthworm Jim. Also a good game. Jungle Book works too, but not the Lion King :(

Pochahantas 2 and MK3 (slightly re-skinned port of MK2) aren't that bad, in MY opinion. Pochahantas 2 is much better than the sluggish, confusing, and story-removed (I mean with text and cutscenes) Game Boy version. I also like Master Fighter VI, because it has all the fighters from the arcade version. And, of course, Rocman X (NES, not GB)!
I didn't know there was a GBC version of Street Heroes! Also, there ARE some fighting games for the NES that aren't pirates. For example: Urban Champion!
