It would be way easier to bug a HES collector asking if they would be willing to dump all their cartridges themselves using a purchasable device like a kazzo rather than buying them all, if you don't have much interest in owning them.
Does anyone know such a HES collector? I do think it would be cool to own some of these games such as the Codemasters ones, but I currently am unable to buy these games. I know this one guy on NintendoAge that claimed to have dumped all HES games and 7/7 of Codemasters games (there's actually 8, so one must be missing), but I forgot his name. He had a picture of the character Rit from the obscure NES game RodLand for his profile picture.

EDIT: That guy is Werrock. Here is the post I found regarding dumping some games: http://nintendoage.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=5&threadid=159549

As for HES games being identical to their AVE/Tengen/Sachen/whatever counterparts, that seems very plausible for a lot of games, as that has been revealed to be the case with ones such as Little Red Hood and Arctic Adventure: Penguin and Seal. Additionally, the Joy-Van and Sachen versions of Silent Assault are known to be identical, so it seems likely that the HES version is the same as well. However, keep in mind that not all are the same. Some of the dumped games such as Chiller, Duck Maze, and the Maxi-15 Pack multicart have unexplained differences from their US counterparts, and Twin Eagle is most certainly different than the Sachen version, as the version on HES's Funblaster Pak doesn't have a long animation of the propeller spinning on the title screen or a "No pain, no gain" screen.
Additionally, I also am unsure as for which revision of Pyramid it is the same as, as there are two versions, PRG0 and PRG1 in GoodNES.

And as for the Codemasters games, they are a whole different deal, as far as I know. None of the five dumps match the respective versions (there's some pretty significant differences in a few of these games, but it's unknown how Micro Machines (compared to the Aladdin version) and Super Sports Challenge is different (SSC just says "Quattro Sports" on the menu). A hex editor shows that there's a bunch of random bytes different in comparison. Although the US versions of the remaining three games run fine in PAL mode in my emulators, they might in fact be different, based on what we know for the other games. Fire Hawk is known to be different as it doesn't have any logos on the title screen, according to BGW.

As I said, I'm not really demanding anything, but we really need some more investigation about this, as well as to make sure everything does eventually get dumped. I am also not sure how to use a Kazzo to dump mapper 71 games yet.

Game Boy dumps / Handheld Underground dumps thread
« on: March 12, 2018, 04:44:50 PM »
Thank you so much for the new dumps today, Taizou!
I watched videos about a lot of those games back in early 2015, and I wanted ROM dumps of those, especially SNK vs. CAPCOM, but they weren't dumped yet. Now I can finally play them! The only problem is that I can only play them on hhugboy for now. Also, I noticed that one of the Dragon Ball Z games steals its audio from Mega Man Xtreme, and SNK vs. CAPCOM's music is taken from the Asian NES fighting game Street Heroes by Sachen (there's also apparently a GBC version of it as well which is dumped but I can't get it to work in any emulator).
Now if we could just get the English Zook Z and the rest of those HES and Codemasters NES games (see my recent list of dumped and undumped games in the NES area of the forum) dumped...

I apologize for bringing up this subject once again, but we need to be aware that there are still some undumped PAL unlicensed games, particularly HES and Codemasters releases. I left out Gluk Video because all their games (as far as I know) are now dumped.
So, I made a list of the unlicensed games, going by this list (http://bootgod.dyndns.org:7777/missing.php?preset=pal_all&title=&region=&class=&system=) as well as the profiles for the games that they do have, for the games that I know of that are published by HES and Codemasters. I have checked via my GoodNES set, as well as a fairly recent No-Intro set that I have, if they are dumped or not, and I have gone through all of those games. I also have found information online of a strange Micro Genius 3-in-1 multicart that was supposedly released in Italy as well as Asia, but only the Asian version is dumped. Here it is:

HES:

Arctic Adventure: Penguin & Seal - dumped
Chiller - dumped
Death Race - undumped
Duck Maze - dumped
F-15 City War - undumped
Funblaster Pak - dumped
Galactic Crusader - undumped
Impossible Mission II - undumped
International Ultimate League Soccer - unsure, possibly Ultimate League Soccer (AVE) (PAL) [!] in GoodNES? Or is that a different PAL version?
Krazy Kreatures - undumped
Maxi-15 Pack - dumped, but BootlegGamesWiki claims there's another version with Sachen games present that's undumped.
Mindblower Pak - dumped
Pac-Man - undumped
Pipemania - dumped
Pyramid - undumped, but someone claims that the Australian version "used EPROMs from AVE". What does that mean?
R.B.I. Baseball - undumped
Real Player's Pak - dumped
Sidewinder - dumped
Silent Assault - undumped
Solitaire - undumped
Super Sprint - undumped
Tiles of Fate - undumped
Toobin' - undumped
Total Funpak - dumped
Twin Eagle - undumped
Venice Beach Volleyball - undumped

Codemasters:

Cosmic Spacehead - dumped
The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy - dumped, but not present in GoodNES or No-Intro
Fire Hawk - undumped, MrNorbert1994 says he was trying to work on it but hasn't said any news since.
Micro Machines - dumped, but header has wrong mirroring causing graphical glitches and the game to crash at the start of the first race.
MiG 29: Soviet Fighter - undumped
Super Adventure Quests - dumped, but not present in GoodNES or No-Intro
Super Sports Challenge - dumped
The Ultimate Stuntman - undumped

Micro Genius:

3-in-1 Supergun (see BootlegGamesWiki, apparently released in Italy) - undumped

So there you have it. As you can see, the vast majority of HES games are still undumped (of the 26 that I know of, only 10 are dumped), with four remaining Codemasters games and a mysterious Italian multicart which I had never heard of until recently.

Using these lists, there should be a project to dump these remaining games. I would especially like to see ROM images of Toobin', Twin Eagle, Fire Hawk, and The Ultimate Stuntman. Finding these games should be relatively easy, as they can often be found on eBay or some old game collecting sites. The PAL versions of these games should be very easy to distinguish from the US or Asian versions.
I also tried to make a No-Intro account to talk about these games, but they never could verify my account to let me join. So I figured that this would be one of the best places to talk about this. Hopefully progress can be made in the future soon...

I would also like to know if there is anyone in particular willing to dump these missing HES and Codemasters games (and the 3-in-1 Lightgun if possible).

Mega Drive/Genesis / Unlicensed Russian MegaDrive ROMs website?
« on: January 23, 2018, 12:26:47 AM »
This still looks different than the original website that I downloaded the ROMs from, but this is very helpful indeed. I will check your The Lord of the Rings fighting game download link as well.

EDIT: I might have found it. However, the one I originally had included Ben 10 and SpongeBob and a few others as well, so maybe those are on another page:

Mega Drive/Genesis / Unlicensed Russian MegaDrive ROMs website?
« on: January 22, 2018, 05:38:50 PM »
Thanks for the information. However, that doesn't look like the website that I was on last, so maybe it's a different one than I thought? All I see on that one is a list of a bunch of Russian translation hacks of licensed games. No, I'm not adding them to my ROM set.
I also don't know how to get ahold of those other few games such as the LEGO ones. There are also 3 more that I forgot to mention: Bomboy, the Lord of the Rings fighting game, and Wario Land 3 (Puggsy). And I meant Terminator 3, not 4.

Mega Drive/Genesis / Unlicensed Russian MegaDrive ROMs website?
« on: January 22, 2018, 01:16:05 AM »
So I have recently been working on building a set of MegaDrive ROMs in .BIN format that's as complete as possible (aside from additional prototypes), and unlicensed games as well as pirates of licensed or other unlicensed games are definitely included. I have finished getting through the letter M today, and it didn't take long as expected.
I have most of the Russian unlicensed games. However, I am having trouble finding some of these, as well as finding information about others that I have.
In particular, I had found a website that had a link to most of the unlicensed games, on Narod.ru, and had downloaded all of them, or at least most of them. Unfortunately, the link seems down now, as it just goes to a "404" message that doesn't seem to recognize the website at all.
Additionally, there are some Russian MegaDrive ROMs that I don't have that I know exist and have been dumped:
 - Assassin's Creed: Black Flag
 - Call of Duty: Ghosts
 - LEGO Batman: The Video Game
 - LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean
 - That weird game based on the gummy bears TV show. I don't know what it's called.
 - Terminator 4 (based on Universal Soldier)

And also additionally, there are some games which I am sure are hacks of licensed games, but I can't identity all of them. That website that I had previously gone to said which games were hacks of which, but I can't access it now. Sometimes the header is unchanged, which is a dead giveaway, and sometimes I know from experience from playing the licensed original version, but sometimes they changed the header completely and it's very hard to tell.
In particular, I'm having trouble identifying the following:
 - Hugo Eco
 - Ice Age 3
 - Madagascar (NOT Madagascar 3)
 - Naruto
 - Winx

Could I please have some help finding the missing games, and find out exactly which Russian games are hacks of which? Also, is World of Tanks an original-developed game or a hack of a licensed (or unlicensed) game?

The Australian version of Pyramid used EPROMS from AVE.
What does this mean? I thought EPROMS was some kind of saving thing...

Other Pirates / Anyone ever heard of a game called "Star" ?

Where is that music from? It sounds like it's from a very early NES game.

Game Boy / "Star Wars 3"?
« on: November 05, 2017, 09:44:16 PM »
By any coincidence, is AGB-ALYH-USA an original code, or does it match that of a (presumably unrelated) USA licensed game? Maybe this "Star Wars 3" is just a re-release of another Star Wars game. They really tried hard to make it look like a real USA game, with seal of Nintendo, "Licensed by Nintendo", E.S.R.B. "T" rating, and even the code I mentioned.
I tried looking online for information about the supposed homebrew demo Azathoth mentioned, but I couldn't find it. I'm actually kind of interested...

Famicom/NES dumps / Super Adventure Quests ROM?
« on: October 30, 2017, 10:27:40 PM »
Thank you for the ROM! I'm so excited to play these four games! I was really worried nobody would reply to me. Also, MrNorbert1994, check your PM soon.

Aladdin 2000 has been dumped for several years, and I've played it. It's basically a really, really terrible and very incomplete port of the licensed Aladdin for the MegaDrive (by Virgin Games). There are only five levels, there's no cutscenes, the frame rate looks choppy, the physics are messed up, none of the items except health do anything (so you can't throw apples or buy anything at a shop), and the list goes on. The audio data is completely stolen from (surprise!) the licensed Aladdin for the SNES, and there's some things wrong with the music placement. Aladdin II for the MegaDrive is much better.

Famicom/NES dumps / Super Adventure Quests ROM?
« on: October 15, 2017, 09:32:37 PM »
So, for those of you who don't know, Super Adventure Quests is basically the European version of what was released in the US as Quattro Adventure. It's a multicart by Codemasters featuring four games: Boomerang Kid, Linus Spacehead, Super Robin Hood, and Treasure Island Dizzy.
Although a ROM of the US version (Quattro Adventure) is very easily available, the European version (Super Adventure Quests) is nearly impossible to find, and was undumped for a very long time. In fact, it's not even included in the latest GoodNES or No-Intro NES set of ROMS. However, according to the following two sources, a ROM dump does exist, and was dumped in August 2014.

http://www.jammarcade.net/dumping-a-nes-cartridge/
This is apparently included in MESS's ROM collection.
Unfortunately, I can't find a recent enough MESS ROM set that contains this ROM (the only ones I can find are from 2013, predating when it was apparently dumped), and I don't understand why so many PAL unlicensed games have been neglected by ROM dumpers and archivers in the past. I tried reviving this forum (http://s4.zetaboards.com/PGC_Forums?topic=30066214/1/#new) to ask but nobody ever responded.
Can anyone find and upload this ROM, even if it doesn't have a header?

Sorry this topic has been dead for several months, but...
Apparently Super Adventure Quests has been dumped, as can seen by these posts:

http://www.jammarcade.net/dumping-a-nes-cartridge/

Unfortunately, I can't find a ROM for this version of the game. Can anyone tell me where it is?

Also, MrNorbert1994, have you had any luck dumping Firehawk?

Super Famicom/SNES / Squirrel
« on: October 02, 2017, 05:53:39 PM »
Thanks for the link! Now I guess all the unlicensed SNES games we know about (except for additional TEG releases) are dumped!
It's funny how the wiki says the SNES version has a completely different soundtrack than the MegaDrive version, but it's actually a very horribly remade version of that same soundtrack with the music in different places. At least they actually created their own music instead of making the music an unedited rip like most times.
