1993-1999 / SF3 and SF4 Backgrounds..
« on: January 20, 2011, 10:26:18 PM »
I want to point out some similarities between these two backgrounds, from SF3 and SF4:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

-They both have a moon/sun behind clouds in the top left corner.
-They both have stereotypical asian buildings to the right
-The floor looks like it's almost the same (obviously not copy pasted, but based off of the same original image)
-They both have a fence with multiple Lions in front of the buildings

So this stage/setting must exist in another video game somewhere, that they both looked at and tried to imitate. but WHAT game is it from? Does anybody know?

1993-1999 / Pirated Fighting Game Combos (Moves)
« on: January 17, 2011, 12:17:49 AM »
I've been trying to figure out every combo for every charachter in Kart Fighter.. Mario has 4, Nokonoko has 2, and everyone else has 3, although Luigi's moves (besides hadouken) can only be done by the CPU.

Code:

Mari:
Down + Forward + Punch = Hadouken
Back + Back + Kick = Flying Kick
Up (Jump) + Down + Kick = 'Hop' kick
Back + Forward + Punch = Shoryuken (Uppercut)

Peach:
Down + Forward + Punch = Hadouken
Down + Back + Kick = Twirl (easy to spam)
Back + Down + Kick = Hair Attack (weird and somewhat pontless)

Bowser (Koopa):
Down + Forward + Punch = Hadouken
Down + Down + Punch = Chomp/Stomp? (another pointless one)
? + ? = Shell Charge

DK Junior:
Down + Forward + Punch = Hadouken (lol, banana)
Down + Back + Kick = Shoryuken (Actually, its more like Sagat's Tiger Uppercut)
? + ? = Twirl (Exactly like Peach's one)

Koopa (Nokonoko):
Back + Forward + Kick = Turtle Shell
Down + Back + Punch = Shell Charge

Yoshi:
Down + Forward + Punch = Hadouken
Down + Forward + Kick = Tongue Attack (pointless, it does no more damage than a punch, just like Peach's hair attack)
Forward + Down + Kick = Flying Tail Attack (Like Ryu/Ken's flying kick)

Toad (Kinopio):
Down + Forward + Punch = Hadouken
Forward + Up + Kick = Flying Kick
Back + Back + Punch = Uppercut (Just like DK Junior's)

Luigi:
Down + Forward + Punch = Hadouken
If you guys can figure out the 2 missing combos, that would be awesome. I couldnt find another page like this anywhere.

1993-1999 / MK4 made by Hummer?
« on: January 16, 2011, 10:00:49 PM »
So I've found a small bit of proof that MK4 (The really dodgy one using a bastardized KF engine) is indeed related to all the other Hummer/JY fighters of the time, and unsurprisingly the proof is in the text:

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/7935/piratedsimilar.png

You can see that after the alphabet and number 0-9 in each game, there is a [. .] followed by a [ - ] and a weird little Orb which might have been a pointer of some sort. Also, the numbers use the EXACT same font. MK4 (bottom left corner) also has this. Also, you might notice Garou Densetsu Special's alphabet font was directly ripped and re-used for Street Fighter Alpha Zero 97, the newest and apparently last of Hummer's fighting games (A pretty crappily programmed one at that) and the KF engine's final spin. More proof of common ancestry!

But what I find really weird is how poorly made MK4 is. The music, the gameplay physics, the timing, the charchter select screen - it all SUCKS in comparison to MKII and MKII special, which of course came first. The grabs don't work right, and you can cause a never-ending round by rapidly pressing B and kicking your dead opponent as the round is attempting to end. In this I see several possibilites - They got one or more new programmers (which would mean some of the old/more experienced programmers left) right beore development for this game started (of course, using the KF engine- they see it as their ol' reliable) and as they went to work it became increasingly obvious they had no idea how to, you know, MAKE A GAME. Sheesh this thing is bad even compared to SFII., which to be fair was the first of the pirated fighters.

On a related note, music from Harry's Legend is in Mortal Kombat 4.. if you make it to Stryker's stage, listen close - its the "level select" music from Harry's Legend, but in a different key! Its like another case of DK JR's stage in Fart Fighter, and the boss music from Jing Zin Quan or whatever that old supertone RPG is called. Crazyness, people!

EDIT: This video will prove to you guys that MK4 came after Harry's Legend and Garou Densetsu Special, and paved the way to Street Fighter Alpha Zero '97 (AKA The Death of Hummer Team)

This pirated NES game stuff just gets weirder and weirder. I'd like to use the PC they were building these games from, and shuck off my own pirated NES game using the Kart Fighter engine - Have a Mari V.S. Rayden battle, or maybe Chun Li V.S. Sub Zero... lmao. That would kick ass.

1993-1999 / Kart FighterAV girl Fighting discovery..
« on: January 15, 2011, 12:40:53 AM »
Save games from Kart Fighter can be loaded by AV Girl Fighting and vice versa.. Most of the Hummer Team fighters use this engine, but it's altered enough between games to where they wont load (Mortal Kombat II for example) However these 2 are made from the same build of the same engine, something I've yet to discover in these pirates.

1993-1999 / NES Super Mario World codes.
« on: January 13, 2011, 08:50:52 PM »
All of us have more than likely played the SMW pirate, and I'm certain that all of us who have HATE the way Mario jumps. Sure, the game has other issues, but this is the one thing that SERIOUSLY reduces the amount of fun we have while we play.

I saw another website somewhere that had documented a few game genie codes for SMW on the NES. I thought for sure it must be a mistake, I mean, no one sits around and spends the time to figure out GG codes for crappy knockoff games. But I was wrong, and when I messed around with the codes they had given, I found this code:

Code:

YUSUPLAZ

What this code does is make it so Mario stays at FULL SPEED when he jumps, unless of course you want to stop - then he stops. You're not going to slow down even a fraction when you run and jump. I am actually having fun playing this game with the code enabled - it's almost like playing a beta Mario or something. Handles a lot better than what I expected!

What I find really weird is that this code works on the full version of the game (the 45 in 1 multicart rip) but not on the version that only has worlds 1 through 4. If anyone knows why, That'd be great. Other than that, enjoy SMW NES for the first time ever, with YUSUPLAZ!
