I don't remember seeing this before so I figured I should create a thread for it.

If you play online on any of the current consoles and would like to share your nickname, gamertag, friend ID or whatever just post it here.

Mega Drive/Genesis / Glorysun's Lord of the Rings trilogy
« on: August 14, 2012, 12:26:18 AM »
I know this is mostly irrelevant, but I figured I'd point out this little bit of info I found tonight.

A while back I dumped Glorysun's Lord of the Rings fighting game (a sprite hack of Chinese Fighter III) and it was referred to on the box as "3" and "Return of the King". Then the Stormlord hack by Glorysun was dumped here. So I figured that was why the fighting game was referred to as part 3, since the Stormlord hack already had been named "Lord of the Rings". But where was part 1?

As luck would have it I found out tonight. After buying a LotR MD cart & assuming it was the Stormlord hack (it wasn't), I was pleasantly surprised to find out this new cart was the "official" Glorysun sequel. So Glorysun released 3 different LotR themed games:

Lord of the Rings - hack of Stormlord
Lord of the Rings 2: The Twin Towers - hack of Rings of Power
Lord of the Rings 3: Return of the King - hack of Chinese Fighter III

As far as I can tell, the Rings of Power hack is just a crappy title screen only hack (which also has GLORYSUN plastered all over the bottom portion of the title). Now to see if the naked lady code still works :)

BootlegGames Wiki / Page deletions?
« on: July 16, 2012, 04:02:01 PM »
I'm almost positive the wiki had over 340 pages not too long ago, and now it's about 30 less.

I haven't really been paying attention to what was deleted, but did they all surely need deletion? I'd hate to see something that had a lot of effort put into it deleted by someone just being a vandal.

Mega Drive/Genesis dumps / Mulan (Unl) ROM - fully patched
« on: July 16, 2012, 02:40:51 PM »
So here's a dump of the unlicensed Sega Mega Drive action platformer Mulan based on the Disney cartoon. Plays a lot like Hercules 2 and you can tell it uses the same engine as Pocket Monster 1 and 2 also. Previous dumps were either partially patched or not patched at all and would usually crash at some point depending on your emulator. This one is fully patched for any emulator or flash cartridge.

DJ Shock made a really great cover in the printable covers thread for it if you own a loose cart.

Mega Drive/Genesis / Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers for Mega Drive
« on: July 03, 2012, 01:39:18 AM »
My good friend Raistlin is currently awaiting a new game to arrive; Chip & Dale: Rescue Rangers for Mega Drive.

Apparently it's some type of port of the NES original, which Squirrel King was designed as an unofficial sequel to. Here's links to both a video and a shot of the cart & box. Hopefully if things work out he might possibly be able to loan the cartridge out to dump, or at least provide a lot of information about the game.

Here's a collection of links I have posted before of dumps I had made from some carts I owned. The majority of these have already been posted on PGC at one time or another, but most were spread out over the "New Dumps" thread that is no longer used since we have specific subforums for dumps. I figured I would repost them all in one place for posterity.

Sorry if any of these are old news, I was unaware of any of these being dumped and made available publicly so if I'm duplicating something that's already been done just look over me. All of these work 100% on most all emulators and real hardware.

The Battle of Red Cliffs
Unpatched BIN
Patched version for all emulators & flash carts
Patched by Eke-Eke. Horrid beat 'em up that's an attempt to do a conversion of Capcom's Warriors of Fate aka Tenchi o Kurau 2: Sekiheki no Tatakai. The sprites, HUD, and art style make me think it was done by the same group behind Yang Warrior Family. The dump prior to this is only emulated under HazeMD & Gens32 and is in MDX format. This one is in regular BIN format and loads in pretty much anything, but goes into an infinite loop at the title screen unless you use the patched version.

Mega Drive/Genesis / Futbol Argentino '96
« on: June 05, 2012, 03:18:23 AM »
Got a package of new games games today, trying to weed out from them what's been dumped and what hasn't.

Among them were both Futbol Argentina '96 & '98 for Mega Drive (boxed even!). As was mentioned in another thread '98 is a hack of EA's FIFA '95 and is dumped and available, but I can't seem to find any info to determine if '96 is dumped yet.

It's not a FIFA hack, and being that haven't played many sports games I don't know what it's a hack of. It isn't an EA game, so maybe it's one of Temco or Sega's football games.

Has anyone seen this dumped?

I also got one for SNES called Futebol Brasilerio '96 at the title screen but Campeonato Brasileiro III on the box. A quick search shows this one as being readily available as a ROM.

Pirate Talk / Community dump of MD pirates?
« on: May 21, 2012, 07:54:56 PM »
Close friend & fellow collector has a few very hard to find undamped Russian Sega Mega Drive games he's wanting to sell but unfortunately I don't have the cash to invest in them right now. If we managed to purchase them I will dump and distribute the ROMs then resell the carts to cover some of the initial costs. Looking at roughly $100-$150 USD  each depending on the title.

Is anyone interested in helping?

BootlegGames Wiki / Game discussion links in Wiki entries
« on: May 14, 2012, 11:00:32 PM »
I think the way Sega-16 handles their forum threads in relation to their posted game reviews is rather ingenious. If you're not familiar with it, each game review has a specific thread about it in their forums, and these threads are kept open for long periods of time to discuss that specific game.

Maybe if a thread exists on this forum that's specifically about one game we could have a link to it on that game's wiki page to foster specific discussion on it. That would remove the need to comb through dozens of threads that possibly touch on one game, and also avoid having multiple threads on the same game.

I got a few copies of Sonic 4 for SNES that really doesn't deserve its own thread creation and would go fine in the existing (locked) Sonic thread. That way as long as everything stayed on topic all the info about a specific game would be in one place. People bump threads that are years old (but with relevant info) and new discussion on an old subject begins. Its nice to have all that info in one place rather than spread out over a dozen multi-page meandering topics.l

Game Boy dumps / 5/2/12 - Spiderman 4 ROM
« on: May 03, 2012, 12:27:02 AM »

So it's another shit PocketNES hack; a single game (hacked) bundled with an altered version of the emulator. Noticed they shoehorned a "4" onto the title screen, I don't know if this is the same as the mapper hack pirate that's on the multi-carts or a new version.

Muh dump's link

So here's my dump of the software that powers the AV 7111 Composite Input Device (Unlicensed Hardware) for Gameboy Advance.

Seems these aren't as common as they were a couple years ago. While the dump is useless to game players, it may prove interesting for those interested in the hardware side of the GBA system. These things are shaped like an elongated GBA cart with 3 RCA jacks on the end for composite video and stereo audio input. There's a 3.5mm headphone jack next to them to hook headphones into (no audio is passed through the GBA system) and your GBA or DS will display whatever you decide to hook up to it.

Strangely enough it won't work on the various clone/knockoff GBA systems, for whatever reasons.

Of course it doesn't do anything but display a blue screen and let you cycle through the display options if you load it in an emulator or flash cart, but I figured I'd back it up since I don't know of anyone dumping it previously. Hopefully it can prove useful to someone down the road.

Mega Drive/Genesis / Working version of Mulan
« on: April 18, 2012, 01:20:15 AM »
I was talking to DJ Shock tonight and he mentioned looking for a working version of Mulan. He pointed out that it crashed after the end of the first part of the first level (where you climb up the ropes on the left of the screen).

I hadn't really noticed this before, but I tried both the fixed versions I have and these both crash at the same spot. The unfixed ROM hangs at the "Wanna be a man" screen before the first level starts.

I double checked my copy and the cart plays fine without problems; before I lug all this shit out to dump the cart does anyone know if a working version is available?

So I guess this might not be news to everyone, but it was to me, so I thought I'd share. I'd love to see a box art or cart shot of all these.

First is Super Mario 4: Mario Galaxy aka Супер Марио 4: Космическая Одиссея aka Super Mario 4: Space Odyssey video we spoke about in this thread.

Then there's Супер Марио 3: Вокруг Света aka Super Mario 3: Around the Light which looks like it's the exact same thing as the above mentioned Super Mario 4 just with different levels. Youtube video here.

Then there's Ben 10: Alien Force, which I would have bet my life was another crappy Russian sprite hack but is actually a new beat 'em up style game (from what I can tell). Youtube link

I have also found confirmation that Sonic Shuffle for Mega Drive does in fact exist, it's a card/puzzle type game, possibly all original, in Russian but has Chinese credits... which obviously points to Glorysun being behind it. Resident Evil aka Biohazard 3 has Chinese on the cart label, so it's possible it's by Glorysun also.

Pirated Work / Custom multi-game Mega Drive cart
« on: March 20, 2012, 10:01:13 PM »
Looking to have a custom Genesis / Mega Drive cartridge produced in the near future. I'd like to have a group consensus as to what would be best to be included. Guidelines:

1) Has to be either something already dumped, or something you own yourself and would be willing to send out to have dumped. Obvious point I know, but nobody is going to pull SMW64 out of their ass (believe me, I've tried).

2) No SRAM, EEPROM saving, or any saving of any kind. Just a straight up ROM only cart.

3) Max total filesize is 64m, with a bare minimum menu. For a fancy pants menu, we'd have to lower the total space alloted for games.

4) ???????

5) PROFIT
