Other Pirates / Does anyone know something about this Cartridge?
« on: August 04, 2016, 12:35:24 PM »
It's just a Famiclone game, probably included with one of those educational keyboard machines.  There are some original games (well more like programs) on it, to make it try to mimic a computer.

With these educational game cartridges that came with the keyboard clones, the problem is that most of them have no real name or way of identification, so I would need to see a picture of the game menu to be able to provide you with more information.

Outside of collecting, though, these carts really don't serve much purpose.  They usually are compatible only with the keyboard machine they were bundled with, and there are just too many of them (translated into various languages) to even be able to try to get them all.

With that said, I am collecting these things, and would gladly trade you your cart for something else, if you are interested.

Yeah I've seen those before, very nice pieces, but too rich for my blood as well.  Would love to own them someday though, Gowin is one of my favorite companies.

The two companies are most definitely connected.  I think I have a good shot at being able able to meet some of these folks, in person at that.  Per the thread about Hummer Cheng, maybe it is best to take stuff like this to PMs, so that other folks involved in the industry also don't get bombarded with countless messages.

I can think of a dozen reasons why someone might prefer to contact the person themselves, as opposed to as through a proxy party / intermediary.  Sorry, MLX, I can totally understand the reason why you would want to protect and discourage it, but as someone doing my own research, etc, asking you or anyone else to pass on questions just isn't the right way to go.

With that said, it is also very shitty to be posting someone's email address like that, especially if they were working to produce gray-area products.  It is an invasion of privacy, and now the poor man will be spammed with dozens and dozens of emails from rabid fans, and most likely no one will be able to contact the guy in the future, ultimately hurting everyone.

Let's leave emails private, and if we need to contact someone, we do the research and leave it at that.  Sound good?

It sucks to go posting someone else's email address for the world to see.  Don't you folks get that there is a reason why these guys are so elusive / hard to talk to?  I will never forget one of the first guys I ever tried to chat with, ten years ago, and he said, "You don't work for Nintendo and want to sue me, do you?", and this was from an American company, not even one that infringed so badly on the copyrights.

With that said, Hummer_Team, did you send me the Mario 64 yet?  I still haven't heard anything from my folks about receiving a package from you.  Thanks.

Well, those EL id are not ordered so you can't really tell which came first except maybe for Fifa and Tiny Toon (since the first is EL-001 and TTA6 is EL-002).

@fcgamer: yes, there are SA, SB, SC and SD carts. (+ those other ID for JY carts: QQ-90xx, Nxx, Kxx, VIPxx, Axxxx, TP-0xx). It's truly a mess.
@MLX:  You know you want my SB cart then.  I could ship it with the JY single game pcb and the SMW cart.  This would be a great time too, before I move apartments...

Just noticed this thread, better late than never!
For some reason, a few EL-XXX carts hit the market back in 1997. There is EL-001 Fifa 97 (with JY-060 printed on the PCB), EL-002 Tiny Toon 6 (PCB has JY-115 printed on it, label can be seen on BGW), EL-032 (possibly?), EL-033 and a few others.

They all share the exact same PCB with their JY counterpart release. (except EL-001 which doesn't seem to exist under a JY id). I doubt there is any particular meaning behind those EL-xxx release, like the SC-XXX cartridges (which is yet another id used by J.Y. Company).

EDIT: many JY carts manufactured from September 97 until September 98 have EL associated with the PCB manufacture date (later PCB lack those PCB date code and have the cartridge ID on them, such as SC-112, etc.)

Also huh, could SC stand for Super Cassette  :somari: ?
I have a HIK 7 in 1 of similar style to the JY carts, but it has ID code SB01.  So I wondered, SB, SC, any relation?

Bootleg Bazaar / I need a NOAC, anyone out there to sell?
« on: June 23, 2016, 03:54:22 AM »
I have several of these.  Here are some for $15 each (I also have controllers for them, etc...)

ANd some brand new ones:

Asking $15 + shipping for any of them, I think shipping would be between $20 - $25.

Please PM me if you want one (or more than one).  Thanks!

Where could I get one now?
currently i dont think theres any place to get a samuri. the taobao listings are lone gone, mlx already sold off their second samuri, and the theory that it was never actually given a proper release seems to have been thrown around on this forum.
I honestly don't believe it for a minute, that this wasn't given a proper release.  The fact is, these items were *all* mass produced in some way or another, especially the newer stuff (2000+).  Finding someone with it, now that is a different story, but trust me, it is out there, somewhere.

I think most (if not all) of these are just plug n play dance mats that plug directly into the tv, based around Famicom technology.

I have three or four of these Famiclones in a dance-mat plug n plays for sale, but sadly not the particular one you are looking for.  If you want some other versions though, please let me know.
