Discussion Center / Cooking and Dinner
« on: July 14, 2013, 08:14:43 AM »
Okay, so this is a multi answer thread.  Two questions, do you like to cook, and what are you having for dinner?

I like to cook, but I hate to clean up the dishes.  Tonight for dinner I am gonna have some steak, as well as some cooked mushrooms, peppers, and broccoli.  For lunch I had some fresh tasty corn on the cob and some fish.

1984-1992 / Are Sachens NTSC or PAL?
« on: July 05, 2013, 01:20:57 PM »
One of the members here had posted in their auction that a 72 pin Sachen game was PAL format; however, I have always been led to believe that the Sachen games are/were NTSC format.  Here is why:

-Sachen games were originally released on Famicom, and Famicom is NTSC format
-Many 72 pin Sachen games were just 60 pin Famicom Sachen boards slapped into cases with Famicom adapters
-During the early 2000s, the vast majority of those importing Sachen games (72 pin format) were from the States

So are Sachen games NTSC or PAL format?  Or did Sachen release the games in both formats?  Thoughts?

2000-present / Nanjing's Pirate Multicarts
« on: June 26, 2013, 11:20:54 PM »
Did you guys know that Nanjing made (makes?) bootleg Famicom multicarts?  I was surprised myself, when I received one, but at the same time, I guess I shouldn't be all too surprised considering many other unlicensed outfits, such as NTDEC, Sachen, etc have done this stuff too.  Pics will be posted later, I think.

Bootleg Bazaar / FS: Soul Blade on SNES + Mega Drive, + SNES Multis
« on: June 09, 2013, 06:43:20 PM »
Soul Blade for SNES + Sega Genesis:  (Please make an offer for one or both of these)

Pirate original game.  As you can see, the label on the SNES version is peeling up, and the box is in poor shape.  Both copies of Soul Blade are up for grabs, or grab them both to compare and contrast and see which 16 bit system is truly best!

SNES Multicarts, boxed:

Three are boxed, and one is loose.  Please make an offer on any or all.

Bootleg Bazaar / FO: My Entire Sega Mega Drive Collection
« on: June 02, 2013, 10:48:11 AM »
For various reasons, I am posting my entire Sega Mega Drive collection up for sale.  There are a lot of original titles in this set.  I don't really want to break this up, and would like to sell it as a set; however, I will consider all offers.  If interested, please send me a PM with your offer, and we can take it from there.  I also am not going to bump this thread, and if there are no takers, these will just go back in my vault.

Also, I think I have a few other Sega games to post with this set, that will be included as well (obviously).  Just need to dig them out and take some pics.

Other Pirates / Game King Stuff
« on: June 01, 2013, 06:30:20 AM »
Let's start by posting a picture of my Game King collection:

Spoiler: click to toggle

I have some other games as well, but they are loose so I didn't bother snapping pics of them :(

I guess what I am wondering, is what other Game King games does everyone here have?  Information about the Game King is quite scarce, and the sites out there are very incomplete.  I am trying to establish what people have, and what all is out there.

Also, one of the rumored Game King III games (Fly Car) can be confirmed; it is a generic racer of sorts.

Finally, a word of the wise to anyone that has even the slightest interest in Game King stuff.  Try to get a Game King III.  I managed to get one (loose, unfortunately, as I wish it was boxed) but with the GKIII, the screen is very clear, and one can actually see what is going on when moving in b/w GK games!!!  GKIII makes the Game King actually a nice fun handheld...

Bootleg Bazaar / Stuff for sale/trade (list updated 6/1/2012)
« on: April 24, 2013, 01:04:42 AM »
Hi everyone, cleaning up the collection a bit and trimming the fat.  Here are some extras I have obtained - some have prices, and some are for offer.  I am willing to trade or sell any of this stuff, would love to add more things to my collection so...if something interests you, please send me a message.  :)

Famicom:

AV Girl Fighter - make an offer

Great fighting game by Hummer Team.  Features naked girls!

Super Turbo Mortal Kombat III - $15

Unknown title - $5 (this one works, but sometimes I have to fiddle with it to get it to play)

52 in 1 - $10 (this one uses the same code as the menus in Action 52 on NES)

6 in 1 - $5

Unknown title - Make offer

Final Combat - rare sachen game, make an offer

Dragon Ball Z III - $5
Base Wars - $5

Final Combat (rare Sachen game) - make an offer

Three Kingdoms (rare Asder/NTDEC game) - make an offer

A special note about the NTDEC carts.  These games were programmed and manufactured by the same guys who made the infamous Caltron 6 in 1 for the NES.   Although their earlier games are simpler (there are some that I really enjoy, but some may beg to differ on this note), the later NTDEC games (like Three Kingdoms upwards) are much better.  Huang Di is probably the fan favorite from this series, but all of these carts are incredibly hard to find.  This one is CN-21, out of about 29 different games released.

Game Boy Color:

Rock Man 8 - make an offer

Mediocre original Mega Man game, probably programmed by either Yong Yong or Sachen.

Pokemon Crystal(?) - Bootleg version, $5

Sachen Games:

4B-004
4B-005
4B-008
4B-009

$12 each or all four for $40

Sega Mega Drive / Genesis:

4 in 1 - $5

Sega Game Gear

Multicarts:  $12 each or 3 for $30

1993-1999 / Strange Huang Di Cart
« on: April 19, 2013, 01:51:08 PM »
Can't remember when Huang Di was released, and NTDEC spanned both the early years and the mid years of Famicom production; therefore, I hope this is the appropriate place to discuss Huang Di.

Received my third copy of the game a few days ago (yes, I am trying to corner the market on Huang Di....j/k).  Unlike my other two boxed copies, this one had a switch on top, and some modifications to the circuit board.  The switch is supposed to switch between an easy mode and difficult/high mode setting, though in the five minutes that I tested this out, I did not see any difference between the two modes.

Thoughts on this?
All of these carts have the same circuit boards and numbers printed on the chips , etc, btw.

« on: March 31, 2013, 04:03:29 AM »
Looking to buy Crime Busters and Jackpot for Famicom.  Both need to be 60 pin versions, not interested in Brazilian or Australian releases.  Thanks.

Bootleg Bazaar / For Trade (OBO): SKOB's game, Milky Way
« on: March 03, 2013, 01:12:26 PM »
I have a Game Boy game from SKOB, a company formerly located in Kaohsiung.  It is titled Milky Way and comes CIB.  It is an RPG of sorts.  I am offering it up for trade or availble for sale at best offer.

For trade, I would gladly do a 1:1 swap, for any of the following (must be boxed, though CIB is best):

-Vast Fame games I do not have
-SKOB games I do not have
-Super Huge Dragon games I do not have
-Sintax games I do not have
-Gowin games I do not have

I would also be willing to trade this one at the exchange rate of 2 loose carts for this.

If anyone is interested in this one, please let me know and send a PM.  This is the first time I have ever seen one of the old SKOB Game Boy games.

Discussion Center / Complaint Part 2
« on: February 26, 2013, 03:18:22 PM »
Mods go ahead and lock this one if you want, but I was in the middle of typing a response when the last thread was locked.  Anyway:

1) Everyone can have his or her opinon as to the value of an item; with that said, however, how can a value be placed on an item that has never been up for sale before?  To muddy the waters even more, how can one bitch about prices but then do the exact same thing when selling to others?  I don't sell my extra copies of Sachen games (with few exceptions) for $15 because I would rather have it in my collection than sell it for a song, just so that the new buyer will then turn around and resell it down the road for a mint.  Many of the games are extremely rare (I have seen enough by now to know which are rare and which are more common), and prices generally reflect this.  It is hypocritcal to complain about the prices, but then to sell for the same price yourself.  The fact is that Taiwanese do not give a shit about the old gams, but western gamers do.  Hence why you can sometimes find games on ruten and places for cheaper prices.  But at the end of the day, the vast majority of these games haven't been for sale anywhere, and therefore how can a price be put on something that was never for sale before?  How can a copy of game xx be equal to a Taiwan Mahjong 16, which one can buy day and night, daily?  It just doesn't make sense, at all.

2)  As I said before, I helped an unreleased SNES game (licensed at that) see the light of day, have done tons of countless research during the early days of NES collecting, have been collecting games for about 14 or 15 years.  No one even knows what all I have in my collection, probably I don't even know either.  This sure sounds like someone who just cares about waving his e-penis around.  Whether those comments were just made in haste or not, I really don't know, but quite frankly, they were out of line.  I may not have contributed to the wiki physically (though some of the pics I took ended up on the wiki without me even being notified...), but that doesn't mean that I don't know something about these games.  With that said though, when people start pointing fingers and acting disrespectful towards me, accusing me of this and that, it just doesn't make me want to share any of the stuff I know in regards to said topics.

That's it.  I'm done for the night.  Feel free to bitch at me while I am away, feel free to ban me if you are pissed off at me enough (though quite frankly, you guys would be doing the community a disservice by doing this, as I have a lot of knowledge regarding this stuff), feel free to lock this up and pretend the whole thing never happened, feel free to sell me some Sachen gams at $50 a pop, feel free to eat popcorn.  No matter what the case may be, I am off for now.  See you tomorrow.

Oh Jesus Christ come on.

(For reference for those who don't know, boxed Sachen games on Taiwanese sites normally don't go higher than 500-700 TWD, which is around $16 to $24.  Note that this is at most, as they're usually cheaper than that.)[/quote]Yay for mod editing!  Honestly, have you a problem with the idea that the going rate for these games is decided by what people are willing to pay for them?

Bootleg Bazaar / To the person with the following collection picture...
« on: January 21, 2013, 02:02:44 PM »
Okay, I found the following collection picture saved on my computer, and I think it is someone's from here - I simply don't remember whose, though.  I uploaded the pic to my photo bucket, but can take it down if the owner prefers.

First off, I am curious as to the cartridge number on the Pokemon game I circled in red.  The reason I am curious is because I have a Game Boy Advance version of the same game, and would like to know if the numbers correspond or not.  Also, to the owner of this game, would you consider trading your GBC copy for my GBA copy?

Secondly, is it possible that the kind owner of these great games would consider selling me (or trading) the titles circled in green?  I really would like to add those to my collection of Sintax games, and think that there might be some sort of offer I could make to get these sick carts into my collection.

For the record, I have about 40 different Sintax games in my collection, not even close to having a complete set yet, I guess!
