I could probably look into this and swap them out with other fields. The only thing is even though setting your Discord ID would be a good idea, I'm not entirely sure if it's possible to make a proper link involving it. I don't recall if it's possible to have a friend request link through Discord like you can for server invites.

While I have no problem with it being on The Wayback Machine, the forum gets backed up about every day regardless.

No problem! Sorry for the confusion regarding it but I couldn't really announce about it on the old forums either.

Did you get a PM on the old Tapatalk forums? That should give you the new password for this forum. (Which you should be able to reset after you log in)

ZetaBoards was being bought out and migrated to Tapatalk which was some really crap hosting platform and I did not want to rehost the forums on another platform.

Those emojis don't exist in phpbb, they were part of the old forums before they moved.

Super Famicom/SNES / Re: SNES in bootleg-y territories
« on: December 26, 2019, 02:14:24 PM »
Officially, the SNES did officially get released in Russia (by Steepler Ltd.), South Korea (by Hyundai) and Brazil (by Playtonic).

Taiwan and the rest of South America must've gotten the SNES/SFC albeit unofficially, as SNES bootleg games and hacks were developed and even released in those areas. Taiwanese clones of the SNES did exist pre-2001 but they seem to be really rare. (I'm aware there was a Micro Genius SNES clone.) The biggest issue might've been the CIC was in both the SFC and the SNES and it took until around I believe 1996 or 1997 to even clone it. (As SNES bootlegs seem to have emerged during this time. However, I could be very wrong on this.) On top of this, the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis was much easier to clone earlier on so it was the go-to 16-bit console of choice. Even by the time the SNES could be cloned, the market for SMD/Genesis games in those areas was already falling out.

It only shows up if there is a notable amount of time between the post and edit. If you edit not too long after you post, it won't show up.

Mega Drive/Genesis / Re: Bootleg Taiwan Mega Drive Games - Undumped?

That Mahjong game as far as I'm aware is undumped. It also uses music from the Squirrel King hack "Super Mario Bros."

Announcements & News / Re: Commercial ROMs

You're overreacting.

We haven't gotten any complaints from Piko on this forum before and even if we were asked to take anything down, it's not like these ROMs aren't elsewhere. Yes, the BBS situation was a bit messed up (Although iirc the translation wasn't stolen.) but Piko has yet to make any demands regarding any of the games here. There's also no reason for him to take down the wiki page because... we're not distributing the game on there.

Game Boy / Re: Connection between Waixing and Vast Fame(?)!
« on: September 29, 2019, 08:22:08 PM »
I'm pretty sure Waixing and SNT just saw some Taiwanese RPGs they thought would be worth porting over. (Especially considering some of these games are based off other properties: San Guo Zhi being Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Barver Battle Saga uses Final Fantasy's Taiwanese name, Digimon 3 is well, obvious.) Vast Fame wasn't even the only Taiwanese company whose games were ported by SNT; SoftStar also got several of their games ported by SNT as well.

I highly doubt there was any Vast Fame staff or Tian Cai Xiao Zi staff that went to work for Waixing or SNT; it just seems like Waixing and SNT themselves just wanted to port their games over because it was another RPG they could port and saw some value in it.

I doubt Waixing or SNT has any connection with Vast Fame. The original Digimon 3 seemed fairly popular at least, given how often it got pirated. I'm assuming Waixing and SNT just took note of the game's popularity and decided to make their own ports.

The Community / Re: Question regarding necroposting
« on: September 29, 2019, 02:16:25 AM »
I should probably clarify especially since I've just made this mistake; necroposting simply does not refer to bumping old topics but bumping them with irrelevant or spammy posts. Bumping an old topic with actual knowledge or something worth discussing is fine.

The problem with necroposting lies in the fact that not only do the posts not add anything to the discussion, it tends to shift an irrelevant (and sometimes finished) topic back to the first page. This in turn can make people read said topic only to find someone posted something completely useless. Just a simple annoyance? Sure, but an annoyance and a mess on the first page of a board nonetheless.

Necroposting isn't a problem here as long as the post in question is at least relevant and is actually adding something to the topic. I've taken off the warning when you're about to reply to an old topic.
