It's the Chocobo theme from Final Fantasy!

I'd seen the box for that "Over Lord" somewhere before, but never knew what it was.

Of course it's a Double Dragon 3 hack in PocketNES! Why wouldn't it be...

(Also, I love how on "Defender", they hacked the sprites into some weird unrecognizable thing that is Clearly Not A Ninja Turtle. And then, as the finishing touch...put a big honkin' Ninja Turtle screenshot on the PocketNES title screen.)

Mega Drive/Genesis dumps / Plants vs Zombies (Unl) ROM - New Link

The song at the menu screen is the title theme from Cybernoid 2 for C64.

As usual, these bootleggers just took one of Shiru's demo modules from TFM Music Maker and stuck it straight into the game...

Well, we now know who "Ryohga Ju" from Gowin's Fire Dragon is. None other than Zhu Zhenxin!

Mega Drive/Genesis / Russian Plants vs Zombies

Yeah, almost certainly the same dev as those Mario and Ben 10 bootlegs. Not just the font, but also the soundtrack--which, again, consists of various TFM Music Maker modules scoured from around the internet.

Also from the same seller, some sort of Mega Drive poker game which is clearly designed by Chuanpu's art team.

If it's the same one I'm thinking of, Super Mario World 7 is just a hack of Adventure Island 2.

Incidentally, since this thread has just been revived: this blog post which I randomly stumbled across recently confirms that "Buffoonery Panzer" is actually Trax (a.k.a. Totsugeki Ponkotsu Tank).

2. All evidence points to F-15 City War having been developed by Idea-Tek.

I'm still wondering what Vast Fame game they ripped that title tune from. If it's even from a game at all, that is-- given that VF likely collaborated with Sintax, it may very well have been an incomplete tune that never actually got used in anything.

...You're right. The emotes in Shi Kong Xing Shou do slide in. Hmmm.

Game Boy / Leftovers in Zook Hero Z

Hm, I'm not entirely sure that's actually a case of stealing resources, so much as being inspired by it-- the Survival Kids emotes actually slide in while they appear, while the ones in VF's RPGs just pop on and off.

Game Boy / Leftovers in Zook Hero Z

That doesn't really explain anything about Zook Hero, given that God Medicine is an RPG, heh. But there is something sort of related that always struck me as interesting.

In all of VFame's English-language RPGs on GBC, the font used for dialogue is not from PC Paint, as is the usual for that company. Instead, the dialogue font is from Survival Kids...which is also by Konami.

So did they actually base their RPG engine on Konami's or something?

Game Boy / Super Mario DX for GBA

...Yeaaah, this is absolutely Sintax's work. They reused the plot line from Donkey Kong 5 on the back of the box!

(They romanized Sodoma and Lombado's names differently... but then again, Sintax was never one for consistency. I mean, they called their Lilo & Stitch game "Space Baby" on the box, but "Firmament Baby" in the ROM itself.)
