2000-present / Jazz Samba E2000/Cha Cha Amigos
« on: June 29, 2015, 02:30:03 AM »
I decided to look into this famiclone because I was watching a vinesauce video (the windows 98 destruction one) where they were poking around in the rom and a picture that said "Cha Cha amigos" popped up and I wondered if it was from anything.

As it turns out, it's from this game:

https://fcgamer.wordpress.com/2014/10/07/famicom-does-it-all-whac-a-mole-mats-karaoke-machines-and-maracas/

It's a clone of Sega's Samba De Amigo. For some reason it has SMiLE.dk's Butterfly and Billy Joel's My Life on the song list (like 90% of the rhythm game famiclones that I've played; are those the only songs that pirate game developers can reproduce in 8-bit or something? It's not even like they reuse the same 8bit versions either, they seem to redo them in every game I run across)

I looked around for a rom dump, but I assume it'd probably be excruciating to try and figure out how to work around those plug-in maracas that control the game while dumping it  :|

Yeesh, this game sure is something! I'm mostly interested in the rhythm game part of the package, since the "Hit Mouse" (whack-a-mole) game is really unimpressive and isn't anything we haven't seen in other bootlegs.

Unlike most DDR knockoffs for the NES/SNES, this game uses PCM samples instead of off-key, screechy 8 bit renditions of seemingly randomly-picked songs.

The graphics are pretty competent, especially compared to most other DDR knockoffs.

The songlist is as follows (in the game, each song is repeated twice)

Boom Boom Dollar by King Kong & D Jungle Girls
Boys by SMiLE.dk
Bad Wei = 5, 6, 7, 8 by Steps
Rap House
Dub I dub by ME&MY
Spaish Dance (sic) = El Baile del Pescao by Aldo Ranks
Hero by Miss Papaya
Butter Fly = Butterfly by SMiLE.dk
Barbie Girl by Aqua
The Rhythm of the Night by Corona
Get ready for this by 2 Unlimited
Two Times by Ann Lee

By the looks of it, nobody knows what the hell "Rap House" is. Soundhound can't decipher anything due to its garbled sound, the lyrics are hard to make out and don't lead to anything via Google, and it sounds so generic that I'd write it off as a royalty-free R&B track if the lyrics weren't so violent/sexual.

Also, for some reason, 5 6 7 8 by Steps pops up in a lot of DDR knockoffs, despite it not being in any actual DDR game. It was in Stepping Stage, which was a really notorious DDR clone from our good friends at Jaleco, so pirate companies probably grabbed onto that song through that game.

Famicom/NES dumps / ROM Requests
« on: June 22, 2014, 12:50:05 AM »
I've been looking for a few ROMs - namely Finger DDR, Dance Y2K, and Super 2-in-1 (specifically the dance game, if you haven't noticed a pattern here :p) and this is the best place to ask. Someone on here posted a link to a ROM for Finger DDR but unfortunately the link has expired and I didn't want to bump a 2-year-old topic to request a reup.

Thanks in advance!
